AWN’s Climate and Air Quality Team is seeking an experienced Senior Climate Consultant to join our dynamic team in Dublin. The role involves delivering a range of climate‑related services across national infrastructure, renewables, data centres, large‑scale residential developments (LDR), and commercial developments as part of a multidisciplinary team of environmental consultants, chemists, and environmental scientists.
Position Overview
As a Senior Climate Consultant, you will scope and deliver climate assessments in line with client requirements, supporting sustainability and compliance across projects. Main Duties and Responsibilities
Carbon and/or lifecycle assessments for projects
Climate change risk assessments for projects
Ensure projects demonstrate compliance with Section 15 of the Climate Action and Low‑Carbon Development Act
Keep up to date with climate assessment methodologies, guidance, policy and legal requirements
Coordinate climate assessments for Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) reports
Technical report writing, including preparation of EIA stages 1‑4
Provide leadership by overseeing, guiding, and managing junior team members and sub‑consultants
Communicate with clients, external stakeholders, regulatory bodies, and sub‑contractors to ensure compliance
Assist in project and program management for large and complex projects, including post‑planning approval assistance
Prepare and create proposals to address client needs
Qualifications and Experience
Minimum 3 years’ experience in the environmental/climate sector
Experience preparing greenhouse gas/lifecycle/carbon assessments using a variety of tools
Experience preparing climate change risk or adaptation assessments
Minimum BSc or BA (Hons) degree in environmental science or a related discipline
Understanding of PAS2080:2023, IEMA/ISEP 2022 Assessing Greenhouse Gas Emissions and Evaluating their Significance, TII PE‑ENV‑01105, TII PE‑ENV‑01104, and EU Technical guidance on the climate proofing of infrastructure (2021‑2027)
Self‑motivated, organised, capable of working on own initiative
High attention to detail, excellent report writing and communication skills
Ability to problem‑solve and assemble complex data into clear, concise outputs
Capacity to meet tight timelines, reporting needs and internal structures
Strong interpersonal skills, able to work independently and within a team
Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office
Preferred
Full Clean Driving Licence or working towards one
Membership/Chartership of a recognised environmental professional body such as ISEP
