Summary
Meta is seeking a Lead Counsel, Labor and Employment, EMEA, to join its Global Employment Law Team on a short-term employment (STE) basis for 14 months to provide temporary cover. In this role, you will support Meta's workforce across the EMEA region on a broad range of employment law matters, providing day-to-day legal counsel on issues including hiring practices, employee relations, performance management, leaves of absence, reductions in force, and employment-related disputes. You will partner closely with People Operations, HR business partners, and business leaders to deliver practical, risk-informed guidance that enables Meta to operate responsibly and in compliance with applicable labor and employment laws.
Required Skills
Lead Counsel, Labor and Employment, EMEA Responsibilities
Provide strategic employment law advice on all aspects of the employee life cycle to the People@ team across EMEA, including human resources, recruiting, payroll, people operations, compensation and benefits, immigration, and employee relations teams
Partner with internal teams to build processes and playbooks for recurring employee-related matters and contribute to region-wide projects and initiatives
Draft and revise employment-related agreements and policies, including offer letters, severance agreements, confidentiality agreements, employee handbooks, and other employment-related documents applicable to Meta's EMEA employees
Support employment litigation as necessary
Minimum Qualifications
3+ years of post-qualification experience in labor and employment counseling
Experience communicating legal advice and partnering with cross-functional teams to provide practical, scalable solutions
Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools to optimize/redesign workflows and drive measurable impact (e.g., efficiency gains, quality improvements)
Experience adhering to and implementing responsible, ethical AI practices (e.g., risk assessment, bias mitigation, quality and accuracy reviews)
Demonstrated ongoing AI skill development (e.g., prompt/context engineering, agent orchestration) and staying current with emerging AI technologies
In-house legal experience in a technology company or other large, complex organization
Qualified lawyer in an EMEA jurisdiction
Experience adhering to and implementing responsible, ethical AI practices (e.g., risk assessment, bias mitigation, quality and accuracy reviews)
Demonstrated ongoing AI skill development (e.g., prompt/context engineering, agent orchestration) and staying current with emerging AI technologies
Experience with labor and employment law in EMEA
Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools to optimize/redesign workflows and drive measurable impact (e.g., efficiency gains, quality improvements)
