Principal Software Engineer (SRE)

What you’ll achieve
In UDS we build enterprise‑grade, massively scalable storage systems – clustered, high‑performance, and resilient. Our portfolio includes a multi‑petabyte S3 object store and a scale‑out NAS platform. We’re a modern, scrum‑based engineering org that ships with high velocity and quality, using the best tools, hardware and development practices. As a Principal Software Engineer you will work on innovative solutions using new and current technologies. You will work as part of a scrum team to design and implement capabilities, often spanning multiple components.
You will:
Work on all aspects of software development life cycle: planning, requirements analysis, design, implementation, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
Collaborate with product owners, architects and other engineers to define and implement technical solutions.
Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback.
Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues across the stack.
Coach and mentor more junior team members.
Essential Requirements
Exceptional programming skills with 8+ years of related experience, preferably in C, C++, Java or Python.
Experience in filesystem/ distributed systems.
Excellent analytical debugging & problem solving skills.
Demonstrable use of observability, diagnostics and operational tooling.
Strong leadership, teamwork and communication skills to effectively lead a scrum team and collaborate effectively in a global Agile/Scrum environment.
Desirable Requirements
Experience in performance engineering/SRE.
Familiarity with systems/storage including protocol behaviour (NFS/SMB/S3), networking, kernel/filesystem queues, caching.
Ability to use ML/AI for anomaly detection, pattern matching, RAG over use case history, agent orchestration.
