Summary of Role
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Maintenance Fitter to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and installation of machinery and equipment within our facility. You will ensure that all mechanical systems are operating efficiently and safely, minimizing downtime and optimizing production processes.
Key Responsibilities:
· Maintenance & Repair: Conduct routine maintenance, repairs, and servicing of plant equipment and machinery, ensuring optimal performance and minimal disruption to production.
Installation:
· Assist with the installation of new machinery and equipment, ensuring proper setup and calibration.
Troubleshooting:
· Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues and provide effective
solutions to reduce downtime and maintain operational efficiency.
Preventative Maintenance:
· Carry out preventative maintenance tasks according to schedule to reduce the risk of unexpected breakdowns and extend equipment lifespan.
Technical Support:
· Provide technical support to other departments and operators to ensure proper machine functionality.
Safety Compliance:
· Adhere to health and safety regulations and best practices to maintain
a safe work environment for all team members.
Documentation:
· Keep accurate maintenance logs and reports detailing inspections,
· repairs, and replacements of parts.
Collaboration:
· Work closely with engineering and production teams to understand machine
performance, report issues, and improve processes.
Parts Management:
· Assist in the management of spare parts inventory, ensuring the
availability of necessary parts for maintenance activities.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience:
· Proven experience as a Maintenance Fitter, Mechanical Fitter, or similar role in a
manufacturing or industrial environment, working with fixed plant / batching plant.
Technical Skills:
· Strong mechanical troubleshooting, diagnostic, and repair skills.
· Experience with hydraulic and pneumatic systems is advantageous.
Certifications:
· Relevant qualifications in Mechanical Engineering or a related field (e.g., apprenticeship, trade qualification).
Health & Safety Knowledge:
· Familiarity with industry safety standards and procedures.
Tools & Equipment:
· Proficient in using hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring equipment.
Communication:
· Good communication skills to collaborate with team members and management.
Attention to Detail:
· Ability to perform tasks with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Desirable Skills:
· Experience with PLCs and electrical systems.
· Welding and fabrication skills.
· Experience with CNC machinery or automation systems.
Physical Requirements:
· Ability to lift and carry heavy items (up to 50kg) as needed.
· Comfort with working in tight spaces, high altitudes, or other challenging environments.
· Willingness to work flexible hours, including overtime, weekends, and on-call shifts if necessary.
Working Conditions:
· Outdoor yard environment with exposure to weather, dust, and noise.
· Physical role requiring lifting, standing, and operating equipment for extended periods.
· Monday to Friday with occasional overtime or weekend work based on production needs.
