Job Purpose
To provide the highest standard of service to patients and staff at the Hermitage Clinic by offering an efficient 24-hour service.
To deputise for Head of Facilities, Deputy Head of Facilities.

Key Responsibilities
Supervise maintenance team to carry out their responsibilities.
Plan, allocate and evaluate work carried out by members of the maintenance team.
Deputise for the Facility Manager/Deputy Facility Manager.
Maintain and develop the hospital's Mechanical and Electrical infrastructure and systems.
Maintain the hospital buildings, fabric and décor to a high standard.
Maintain the hospital's Maintenance Management Systems Asset Register, Planned Preventative maintenance routines, planned and unplanned work orders to ensure it is current and up to date.
Monitor and manage external contractors working in the hospital, verifying standard and status of works undertaken and obtaining relevant service/test reports on completion of works (Permit to Work, Induction, Hot works permits, etc.).
Coordinate the training of electrical apprentices in electrics, plumbing and mechanical.
Implementation and monitoring of Quality Assurance procedures for M&E and works carried out by other engineers and apprentices/trainees in addition to JCIA requirements.
Maintenance of M&E, JCIA, manuals and records.
Change / carry out / review risk assessments and of new procedures/SOPs as required by JCIA, law, new standards, etc.
Support HOD in the coordination role in dealing with any security, Health and Safety incident.
Strong knowledge of BMS systems.
Maintenance of Fire Safety equipment and systems.
Maintenance of Nurse call systems, Pod system.
Take part in Generator Testing.
Take a lead role in the hospital's water safety group and Legionella prevention programme.
Take part in the Electrical safety group, ventilation safety group.
Member of Fire Team and Health and Safety committee.
Organisation and supervision of Insurance inspections of the hospital buildings, lifts and lifting equipment and pressurised vessels; action any recommendations as appropriate.
Ensure hospital compliance with statutory regulations under the control of the engineering/facilities department.
Approving purchase orders for M&E materials and services to Supervisor level and HOD level when on leave, ensuring hospital purchasing policies are adhered to.
Issuing purchase orders and payments as required.
Initiate value-for-money programmes by being proactive in ensuring efficient and cost-effective use of resources.
Quality assurance on new building works, installation commissioning, snagging and de-snagging.
Attend Site & Design Team meetings.
Consultant Design Team fees, fee proposals, purchase orders and payments, etc.
Communication Skills
Communicate with HOD re maintenance, budgets and management of the department.
Accept constructive advice from Head of Department or others if necessary.
Communicate with staff and patients re maintenance in the hospital in an objective and positive way.
Address problems promptly or revert to HOD if problems cannot be addressed in a timely/appropriate fashion.
Provide feedback in a timely fashion.
Communicate appropriately with colleagues and other members of the Engineering Team.
Avoid antagonism and reduce conflict; maintain professionalism and confidentiality with patients and clinic activities.
Recognise self-limitations and seek assistance; participate in meetings; report incidents that may affect patients or staff.
Present a professional appearance and conform to the dress code, hygiene and infection control policies of the clinic.
Provide 6 over 7 cover for operational issues and respond promptly.
Support the Hermitage Clinic mission and maintain appropriate lines of authority.
Maintain strict confidentiality regarding all patients and clinic activities.
Demonstrate flexibility to assist in all areas of the Hospital/Clinic as required and align with workload demands.
Participate in developing and providing quality care within the Hermitage Clinic Mission Statement.
Assist in orientation of new personnel and continue to develop knowledge and skills.
Present a professional appearance and conform to policies on dress, hygiene and infection control.
