Overview
Shuppa is Ireland's most reliable instant digital supermarket — everything from Brennan's bread to Moët champagne, delivered in minutes from our cloud stores at local shop prices.
Traditional retail isn't built for how people shop today. We're on a mission to make grocery and convenience shopping 10x more convenient, personalised and accessible.
To get there, we need our first
Head of Finance
— someone to build and own finance in-house from the ground up.
This is a hands-on role: closing the books, managing payroll and supplier payments, producing monthly accounts, and keeping a tight handle on cash flow and treasury. You'll also put in place the systems, processes, and insights that let us scale with confidence.
You'll work directly with the founders, board, and investors. Decisions are fast, impact is immediate, and the path is clear: Head of Finance Lead today, Finance Director tomorrow.
What You'll Do
Finance fundamentals
* Own the month-end close and deliver accurate, timely management accounts (10 day close).
* Run payroll and ensure accurate, on-time supplier payments.
* Stay on top of invoicing, reconciliations, and working capital.
* Manage tax, audit, and compliance obligations.
Treasury & cash management
* Oversee cash flow, treasury, and banking relationships.
* Manage liquidity planning to ensure the business is always ahead of requirements.
Strategic finance
* Build forecasts and financial models that inform decisions across the business.
* Support fundraising and board reporting with clear analysis and insight.
* Identify margin and efficiency improvements at both store and company level.
Tooling & systems
* Select, implement, and own the financial tooling we'll use as a business.
* Put in place processes and controls that scale with us without slowing us down.
Who You Are
* A qualified accountant (Big 4 or corporate background is fine, but you're looking for something faster-paced and more meaningful).
* Commercially minded — you see finance as a driver of the business, not just reporting.
* Comfortable being hands-on and detail-focused.
* Keen to build something new rather than inherit an existing machine.
* Excited by autonomy and ownership.
* Start-up mindset: Happy to swap a board pack for a backpack when the team needs it.
What's On Offer?
* Salary: €70–80K depending on experience.
* Equity: meaningful participation in our ESOP (€20K - €50K).
* Path: Head of Finance today, Finance Director tomorrow.
* Staff discount on your shopping (20%)
* Incredible learning curve: A chance to build and own the finance function in a scaling Irish start-up.
* Direct exposure to CEO, board, and investors.
If you're ready to leave corporate behind and actually own something, we'd love to talk.
