Assistant Psychologist
Location: Tullamore
Tenure: Two‑year fixed‑term contract
Contract Hours: 39 hours per week
Salary Scale: Assistant Psychologist scale
We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated Assistant Psychologist to join our evolving psychological services team led by the Principal Psychology Manager. In this role you will work closely with the Senior Psychologist and provide psychological supports to adults with intellectual disabilities, autism and mental health concerns. Although the post is for normal office hours, you will be expected to commit to flexible hours as required by the service.

Person Specification
Qualifications – Essential
* Minimum of a 2:1 honours degree in Psychology.
* Eligible for Graduate Membership of the Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI).
Qualifications – Desirable
* Relevant post‑graduate qualification in applied psychology.
Experience – Essential
* Relevant experience and demonstrable skills in working with adults with intellectual disabilities and autistic adults with high support needs.
Experience – Desirable
* Experience working as an Assistant Psychologist or similar role in a relevant clinical setting.
* Experience working collaboratively with families and multidisciplinary teams.
Knowledge and Skills
* Full driving licence, access to a car and ability to travel across a broad geographical area.
* Understanding of the psychological needs of people with intellectual disabilities, autism and mental health difficulties.
* Understanding of neuro‑affirmative approaches to working with individuals.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Personal Qualities
* Positive, respectful attitude towards neurodivergent individuals and those with intellectual disabilities.
* Willingness and availability to work flexible hours in response to service demands.
* Flexibility, creativity, and a strong commitment to inclusive, person‑centred practice.
