Our client, a leading global bank is seeking a Payments Application Support Engineer with a strong passion for Production Support and an interest in building a long-term career within a fast-growing and highly reputable financial institution.
The successful candidate will join a global production support team responsible for critical payment and fintech applications running across Linux, UNIX, and Windows environments, with an increasing focus on cloud-native platforms and API-driven architectures. This role offers hands-on exposure to a broad range of fintech technologies, primarily supporting release and production environments.
This position reports to the Director of Production Support.
Role Objectives
* Provide production and release support for a wide range of fintech applications and platforms
* Implement automation solutions, cloud-based monitoring, and preventative controls for recurring issues
* Manage application configuration and deployment, incident resolution, and business user requests
* Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders
* Participate in rotational on-call and occasional weekend support
Qualifications & Skills
* Experience in a similar Application Support / Production Support role OR a recent graduate with a degree in Computer Science or a related discipline
* Strong understanding of Linux operating systems and cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP)
* Solid knowledge of API technologies, including RESTful and GraphQL APIs
* Familiarity with shared services platforms and API gateways (e.g. Google Apigee)
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Self-motivated, disciplined, and proactive approach to learning and problem-solving
* Ability to work effectively within a team and demonstrate leadership when required
* Strong sense of personal accountability, ownership, and task prioritisation
* 3–5 years of relevant experience is highly desirable
Technical Experience (Highly Desirable)
* Experience working with the Google Apigee suite, including:
* Drupal
* Nginx
* Apache Qpid, ZooKeeper, Cassandra
* PostgreSQL
* Scripting experience with Shell, Python, Perl, JavaScript, or PowerShell
* Experience building or using automation tools and scripts
* Knowledge of containerisation technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
* Exposure to CI/CD pipelines
