A Day in the Life

R&D - Manufacturing Process Technician to support EU MDR Remediation and Shiley FlexFEN PDP Projects

A Day in The Life Of:


EU MDR:


· Given that the EU MDR project comprises converting 10 product families from DEHP plasticized PVC materials, to Non DEHP plasticized materials, extensive work is required with Extrusion, Blow Moulding, and device assembly to demonstrate compliance to new regulation.


· In order to qualify the above product changes, work is required on our primary processes to complete Feasibility studies, parameter Development studies, and Operational Qualification runs, including challenge runs at both low and high machine parameter settings to demonstrate process capability.


The role also involves helping us to ensure our products are in compliance to recently released ISO Product Standards


Working with the R&D team with respect to developing device specifications, testing methods, and problem resolution.


New Product Introduction (NPI)


· Support New Product introduction with specific emphasis on PVC extrusion product development and validation including Parameter Development studies, and Operational Qualification runs, including challenge runs at both low and high machine parameter settings to demonstrate capability.


·


Provide general support to other plastics processing technologies such as Blow Moulding, and general Device Assembly and Packaging

Key Skills & Experience


· Level 6 or higher qualification in in Mechanical, Polymer, Biomedical or related Engineering /Science discipline with excellent Hands On working knowledge of Extrusion.


· Working knowledge of blow moulding, injection moulding and Medical device assembly an advantage.


· Experience in the development of new product specifications in the Medical Device Industry.


· Good knowledge of Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) / Design Reliability Manufacturability (DRM) and CAD (Solidworks)


· Familiar with problem solving techniques and methodologies.


· Broad biomedical materials knowledge, with knowledge of processing and joining technologies also.


· Basic knowledge of quality requirements from agencies or outside professional groups (e.g. FDA, ISO, ANSI,) and EU MDR.


· Ability to adjust or recommend enhancements to systems and processes to solve problems or improve effectiveness of job area.


· Can work independently with general supervision


· A dynamic Player and can work effectively on cross-functional teams.


· A good communicator and fluent in English, both in writing and speaking.


· Core hours will be 8am to 4:30pm Monday to Thursday, and 8am to 3:30 on Friday.


· Flexibility to work on evening shift, night shifts and weekends will be required in order to execute tasks aligned with machine availability and project timelines.


· The position will report to the Senior R&D Manager.
