Reporting to the Head of Claims, this newly created role offers the chance to step into a senior position within a supportive and growing team, working across both Individual Protection and Group Protection portfolios.
This is a strong fit for someone with deep technical claims experience who also enjoys mentoring others, improving processes, and working closely with stakeholders across the business.
This role is a controlled function under the CBI Fitness and Probity Standard.
Responsibilities
Lead the assessment and sign-off of complex Death, Critical Illness, and Income Protection claims.
Deliver fair, timely, and customer-focused claims decisions.
Coach, mentor, and support junior assessors as part of their ongoing development.
Handle queries from customers, employers, and brokers with professionalism, empathy, and strong market awareness.
Apply best practice to maintain high standards of accuracy, compliance, and service.
Oversee claim processing and help ensure benefits are paid on time.
Make sure all claims decisions align with internal risk and compliance standards.
Work closely with internal teams to share insight, resolve issues, and improve processes.
Support the Head of Claims with strategic projects and wider team initiatives.
Skills & Experience
Strong experience in Group Risk Claim Assessment, ideally across Life, Income Protection, and Critical Illness products, or senior experience in a related role within a life insurance business.
Excellent attention to detail and a clear commitment to delivering a strong customer experience.
Ability to manage competing priorities and perform well in a busy environment.
Team-focused approach with a genuine interest in supporting and developing others.
Ability to meet and maintain CBI Minimum Competency Code requirements.
