My client, a well-establishedAccountancy Practice in Galway City Centre, seeks to hire a Practice Accountant to join their team. The ideal candidate will be fully qualified with audit experience; part-qualified candidates with audit experience will also be considered. You will join a small practice in Galway, gaining exposure to accounts preparation, income tax, compliance, and audit. You will own a client portfolio of circa 20+ large, well-known businesses in Galway. This is a permanent, full-time role, ideally five days per week onsite, with adhoc flexibility to work from home. This role offers a normal work-life balance with a finish time of 17:30, including during tax deadline season.
Responsibilities
 * Portfolio management: liaise with clients to manage workflow of receipt of accounting records and coordinate jobs to be done.
 * Coordinate with your portfolio of clients to schedule cases coming in and ensure timely delivery.
 * Handle client cases across industries such as hotels, charities, construction, schools, retail and professional services.
 * Audit: carry out audits on SME cases, including planning, materiality, fieldwork and final reporting to clients; liaise with client bookkeepers to coach improvements and assist with journals/adjustments.
 * From audit, provide recommendations for improvements in the client's accounting processes.
 * Accounts preparation: prepare a set of accounts from client records with supporting files and schedules; maintain a fully referenced accounts file with supporting schedules; recommend adjustments as needed.
 * Taxation: prepare client corporation tax computations and ROS returns for both corporate and personal taxes, understanding where tax addbacks or close company surcharges apply.
 * ROS: experience using ROS for filing corporation and personal tax returns.
 * Payroll: make manual payroll changes on ROS/Thesaurus as required.
 * Financial statements: be comfortable with disclosures for FRS 102 financial statements using Sage.
 * CRO: comfortable with the CORE and routine CRO filings.
Qualifications
 * Fully or partly qualified Accountant with audit experience.
 * Small practice experience is desirable but not essential.
 * Strong MS Office skills.
 * Comfortable using various client bookkeeping systems — TAS, Xero, QuickBooks and Sage.
 * Excellent prioritisation skills to manage multiple client deadlines.
