Job Description
This role is responsible for overseeing daily activities in the distribution centre, focusing on Inbound (receiving, put away/replenishment) or Outbound (pick, pack and ship) operations. The goal is to manage shift responsibilities, staff, train, and schedule the warehouse team while maintaining productivity goals and adhering to Health and Safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide hands-on supervision to maximise productivity and accuracy among staff.
* Plan daily workloads to ensure same-day shipment of all customer orders.
* Support a customer-focused environment by driving standards within the warehouse team.
* Supervise daily processes to meet or exceed Key Performance Indicator (KPI) metrics.
* Provide direction and assistance to the warehouse team, resolving issues and clarifying job assignments.
* Meet departmental expectations to drive results.
* Assist in training, developing, and managing the warehouse team, enhancing individual performance through clear expectations, training, coaching, and mentoring.
* Ensure site compliance with Health & Safety Regulations.
* Train and certify employees on Industrial Powered equipment usage and monitor employee adherence.
* Provide accurate and timely reporting of warehouse activities using distribution center Business Metrics reports and other benchmark reporting spreadsheets.
* Comply with logistic and distribution center budgetary constraints, monitoring controllable expenses such as Overtime, Salary, Temporary help, Supplies, Facility Maintenance expense, etc.
Qualification:
* Strong Warehouse knowledge and business acumen.
* 2-4 years experience in Distribution Centre operations with Store, Direct to Consumer and Business to Business applications.
* Functional knowledge and experience in conducting metric-driven analysis and accountability.
* Experience using and implementing Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
* Demonstrated competence in Microsoft Operating Systems.
* Understanding Process Improvement/Six Sigma processes (a plus).
* Proven leadership and people management skills essential.
* Able to proactively identify challenges and arrive at optimum solutions to achieve success.
* Bachelor Degree in Business, Supply Chain, Accounting, Finance or Economics (preferred).
* Familiarity with Distribution Centre processes and functions.
* Flexibility around working hours given the nature of role and industry, as well as seasonality and business needs.
