Roles and Responsibilities
The Category Manager, reporting to the Director of Site Services & Commodities, Indirect Procurement, is responsible for managing a diverse portfolio of indirect procurement categories across multiple sites. These include (but are not limited to) Facilities, MRO, Utilities, Waste, Security, Integrated Facilities Management (IFM), and Secondary Packaging.
The role combines strategic vision with hands-on execution, focusing on value creation, category management, and operational excellence. Success in this position requires strong stakeholder collaboration, market insight, and the ability to drive measurable impact through innovative sourcing and supplier partnership.
Value Creation and Relationship Management
• Drive supplier-led innovation and cost-reduction initiatives.
• Build and maintain trusted relationships with internal stakeholders and suppliers.
• Identify and leverage opportunities through spend analysis, benchmarking, and market intelligence.
• Disseminate market insights to inform procurement strategies and commercial negotiations.
Strategic Planning and Execution
• Develop and implement comprehensive category strategies aligned with long-term business goals.
• Lead strategic sourcing initiatives and manage robust sourcing pipelines.
• Oversee contract lifecycle management, ensuring alignment with operational and commercial needs.
• Champion enterprise-wide implementation of strategic procurement initiatives.
Operational and Tactical Excellence
• Maintain accurate pricing databases and supplier catalogs.
• Resolve procurement issues efficiently, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
• Track compliance metrics, manage supplier performance scorecards, and report on KPIs.
• Oversee rebate programs with accurate reporting and reconciliation.
• Promote continuous improvement and drive initiatives to benchmark and validate savings.
Category Management & Strategic Sourcing
• Conduct detailed spend and segmentation analyses to identify sourcing opportunities.
• Develop and maintain multi-year category roadmaps in alignment with evolving business needs.
• Lead cross-functional governance forums or category councils to define and execute priorities.
• Monitor market conditions and adapt strategies accordingly.
• Lead complex sourcing events (RFPs, RFQs, e-auctions) with an emphasis on total cost of ownership (TCO).
• Evaluate supplier capabilities and risks to ensure alignment with long-term strategies.
• Collaborate with Legal and Compliance to ensure contractual terms are risk-mitigated and value-driven.
• Act as a strategic advisor to internal partners, translating business objectives into sourcing plans.
• Drive enterprise-wide alignment and adoption of category strategies across regions and functions.
• Lead change management efforts related to supplier transitions, new processes, and technology implementations.
• Champion ESG goals by partnering with suppliers to develop sustainable and innovative solutions.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS
Reports directly to the Director, Site Services & Commodities, Indirect Procurement.
Works cross-functionally with Finance, Operations, Quality, EHS, Legal, Maintenance, Engineering, Sustainability, and Site Procurement teams.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, or a related discipline required.
• Master’s degree or professional certifications (CPSM, CIPS, PMP) highly desirable.
• Minimum of 8 years’ experience in indirect procurement, category management, or strategic sourcing, preferably in a multi-site or global manufacturing environment.
• Proven track record of developing category strategies, managing supplier relationships, and delivering tangible value.
• Experience working closely with stakeholders in Facilities, Engineering, Maintenance, EHS, and Operations.
• Demonstrated ability to lead complex sourcing projects and manage high-value supplier contracts.
• Strong influencer, capable of driving stakeholder engagement and increasing spend under management.
TECHNICAL SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES REQUIRED
• Advanced analytical capabilities with experience handling large data sets.
• Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, and procurement platforms (e.g., SAP, Ariba).
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Project management experience with a continuous improvement mindset.
• Ability to juggle multiple priorities in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
PHYSICAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS
• Willingness to travel up to 30%, primarily within Europe; some international travel may be required.
• Based in Dublin, Ireland with a flexible hybrid working model.
• Fluent in English; additional languages are a plus.
