Overview
As a Physical Security Architect at AWS, you will be part of a highly creative and efficient design team comprised of Architects, Engineers, and Designers tasked with solving problems and challenging the status quo. As a subject‑matter expert, you will provide technical guidance, have a direct impact on the design of DC facilities, solve large‑scale implementation issues, and be responsible for developing and communicating security design requirements to internal and external project partners.
Key job responsibilities
* Lead designs (construction drawings and specifications) for physical security elements (cameras, access control, intrusion detection, fences, gates, etc.) for DC projects.
* Use Blue Beam and other drafting technologies to collaborate with design teams and produce designs in Revit (ACC)/CAD.
* Coordinate security requirements with all other disciplines during the design process of a new building / campus (architectural, mechanical, electrical, civil, IT).
* Review and direct the work of physical security engineering design consultants.
* Be the subject‑matter expert, supervise and approve all design deliverables developed by third‑party and in‑house design services teams at each design milestone.
* Collaborate with other security organizations within AWS to develop design standards, evaluate cost, risk and benefits of designs and facilitate design discussions.
* Participate in maintenance basis of design, prototype design, and template specifications for physical security elements.
* Manage multiple fast‑paced projects simultaneously.
* Travel for site assessments, internal design meetings, construction review, and interfacing with design consultants (anticipated travel not to exceed 25%).

Basic Qualifications
* Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
* Knowledge of Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
* Experience in industrial or commercial engineering in mission critical facilities including but not limited to data centers, power generation or oil and gas facilities.
* Experience researching new designs, technologies, and construction methods of data center equipment and facilities.
* Experience in commissioning.
Preferred Qualifications
* Professional Engineer License.
* Experience with building codes and regulations for your region.
* Experience carrying design concepts through exploration, development, and into deployment or mass production.
* Experience reading, interpreting, and creating construction drawings, specifications, and submittal documents.
