Role Description:
We are looking for a dynamic, inspiring, and strategic Technology Leader. The ideal candidate will be a charismatic individual who not only envisions the future of our organization but also possesses the ability to motivate and lead our team toward that future.
The Optum Payment Integrity Automation Centre of Excellence supports the organization through the delivery of automated solutions, using existing, new, and emerging technologies to enhance savings, improve productivity and quality and reduce cost.
The Director of Technology, Advanced Automation holds the accountability for the overall success of the solutions being developed and maintained across our Payment Integrity Portfolio. They will ensure that solutions built are per requirements and at the required levels of quality, they collaborate with Business Stakeholders, Product Owner(s) and Development teams. They also engage with the Business & respective Transformation Office on benefit management and reporting. This role has significant relationships and responsibilities outside the local team, including working with Customers and Business Owners as well as our Transformation and Technology partners.

Primary Responsibilities for Director of Technology, Advanced Automation:
* Strong leadership and strategic planning skills to drive the strategic operating model of the business keeping in mind the growth/innovation pillars to support the business
* Understand and communicate the business goals of the Payment Integrity business, in line with the business direction and in combination with the Automation requirements of Ops & change
* Accountable for Process Automation Engineering direction and focus goals for the near to mid-term
* Lead and inspire a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and adaptability across all levels of the organization to support an ambitious growth target and medical cost savings
* Collaborate with the delivery and engineering teams on backlog refinement, encouraging and helping the Feature Team(s) to enter a direct conversation with true users and customers for clarification
* Provide technical directions to the teams and make prioritization calls
* Acts as the liaison across a heavily matrix organization
* Work with the business and technology teams to define the technical roadmap for Payment Integrity Automation
* Accountable for Payment Integrity Process Automation technical infrastructure ownership
* Engage with leadership across the organization to understand the business needs and challenges, educate on the automation teams' capabilities and technologies
* Collaborate with stakeholders, ability to influence without authority to gain support and buy-in for proposed business process solutions and adherence to team requirements
* Maintain an understanding of emerging technologies, research and thought leadership and contribute to ensuring best in class practice within the automation team

Required Qualifications:
* Bachelor's Degree (or higher) OR equivalent experience in Technology Leadership, Automation, Change Management and Strategy
* Proven track record in managing large scale complex programs within a matrix environment
* Experience with Robotic Process Automation & Advance process Automation end to end delivery with a market leading platform: Automation Anywhere, BluePrism and/or UIPath
* Proven Leadership and Management experience within a Technology team
* Experience in the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), including Waterfall and Agile methodologies
* Experience of implementing software or business transformation projects from ideation / requirements through to successful delivery
* Experience working within an DevOps / Agile Framework (Scrum, LeSS, SAFe, etc.)
Preferred Qualifications:
* Knowledge of the US Health Insurance Industry: Claim Adjudication, Payments and Eligibility
* Lean process improvement or six sigma qualifications / experience
* Agentic AI / AIML and Agentic Automation understanding and delivery in real world environments
* Business /Process / Systems Analysis experience

* Demonstrable track record of effective client and stakeholder communication and management
* Written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to peers and senior management
* Displays an innovative mindset which contributes, promotes, and adopts new ideas and approaches
* Demonstrated ability to develop and implement successful organizational technology change initiatives
* Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities, with the skill to inspire and motivate teams
* A track record of fostering an inclusive and collaborative work environment
