The role: On behalf of a state‑owned electricity company in Ireland, we are currently looking for a Lead Electrical to mobilise to the Turlough Hill site and respectively manage the key responsibilities listed below. The successful candidate will work within the client project team, supporting the project manager to deliver this important overhaul.
Responsibilities
Work with the Safety Adviser and other project team members to ensure that all works undertaken during the project are executed in accordance with statutory safety, health and environmental regulations and internal Company Technical Standards & Guidelines.
Manage the Main EPC electrical Contract and other electrical contracts/work scopes as assigned by the Project Manager. Liaise with Engineering & Major Projects (EMP) specialist team to successfully deliver the overhaul in line with defined protocols and procedures.
Support the implementation of Inspection & Test Plans for the electrical aspects of the scope of work in conjunction with the appropriate Competent Person / Asset Management Specialist.
Manage quality in accordance with responsibilities listed in the Project Quality Plan.
Day‑to‑day supervision and point of contact with contractors and their works. Review of key ITP protocol sheets.
Work with and support the station Management and Maintenance Teams during the course of the project.
Undertake regular safety, environment and quality audits during the overhaul.
Report on progress against schedule and attend various project meetings as deemed appropriate by the Project Manager.
Work with the Project Manager to control costs for assigned contracts.
Manage day‑to‑day work requirements with the principal Contractor.
Develop technical specifications for work scopes on Mechanical plant and equipment and involve in various stages of tendering and procurement process.
Use plant modification process for all Mechanical plant modifications. Ensure all Mechanical procedures and drawings are updated.
Use the Company Contractor Management (CM) process to manage assigned contracts, including use of CM tools to track contract progress and holding of Kick‑Off, Progress, Close‑Out meetings, etc.
Attend Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs), workshop visits, if required.
Create Mechanical Close‑Out Report.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience (Essential)
Experience of planning major power station overhauls – including logistics, procurement, specifications development and contractor management.
Ability to work and share knowledge and competencies within a team structure.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Flexibility – important in all aspects of the role.
Strong report‑writing capability.
Experience of Power plant electrical plant, including Generators, transformers, HV/MV & LV switchgear, etc.
Well versed with Health, Safety and Environment Standards and procedures.
Minimum 5 years (Post Qualification) in power generation industry.
Engineer level 8 qualification in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
Engineer level 8 qualification in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
