The Networks & Civil, Environmental Engineering (NCEE) Department within Engineering and Major Projects provides a range of planning, design, construction, operation & maintenance, and management services required for electricity industry infrastructure projects in Ireland.The NCEE Planning and Environmental Group Ecology Team delivers ecology services from feasibility through construction stage of Network projects for ESB. The Senior Team Lead will lead this team and also provide mentoring and professional development of junior staff across the department.Key ResponsibilitiesManage and co-ordinate NCEE ecology inputs required to successfully deliver projects to approved scope, budget and programme.Undertake the role of Lead Ecologist where required; support the team member in this role to ensure responsibilities are fully understood.Act as subject matter expert and key influencer on engineering and ecology solutions for Network projects and engage with external stakeholders on ESB Networks’ behalf.Lead in the operation and maintenance of existing infrastructure to ensure compliance with legislation.Be accountable for the overall service and performance of the team and manage any matters that result from team performance.Prioritise workload within the team and balance partner expectations with available resources and project deadlines.Strategically identify and develop any required external support in the forms of Framework Agreements for consultants or contractors to support the delivery of NCEE services.Be accountable for quality assurance and auditing of team deliverables including the work of external consultants and provide support and guidance on the implementation of Quality Procedures across NCEE, E&MP and ESB.Experience and QualificationsMinimum 7 years relevant post‑qualification experience.Strong communications and report‑writing skills.A demonstrated track record in supporting the ecological aspects related to the delivery of significant civil and structural projects and/or related engineering works packages.A track record in leading or participating in multi‑disciplinary teams.Strong commercial awareness with a clear understanding of how project work impacts the business case.Critical thinking skills and judgement to ensure significant ecological risks are identified and managed on projects.A strong ability to identify project work requirements and initiate necessary work.Proven ability in managing internal and external stakeholders.DesirableTeam management experience.Full driving licence and access to a car.QualificationsLevel 8 Ecology Degree or equivalent qualification.A proven track record of successfully project‑managing and co‑authoring ecology reports.An up‑to‑date working knowledge of regulatory requirements within Ireland related to ecology.A professional manner with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate at all levels and deliver high results.Strong stakeholder management skills and a proven track record of managing internal and external stakeholders, including contributing to correspondence and consultation with statutory bodies.Demonstrated ability to collaborate and problem‑solve with other key stakeholders.Strong organisational skills and a structured approach to project management and commercial aspects of projects.A full, clean valid driving licence and access to a car.Desirable QualificationsLevel 9 Ecology Degree or equivalent qualification.Chartered status in a recognised professional ecology/environmental institute.LocationThis role is based in the EMP Dublin or Cork office but requires travel to project locations as needed. Travel is a key requirement of the role. The successful candidate may combine working from home within the Republic of Ireland with attendance at the base office for at least two days in‑person for collaboration.
