Abbott in Ireland
Abbott has been operating in Ireland since 1946 and serves the Irish market with a diverse range of healthcare products including diagnostics, diabetes care, medical devices and nutritional products. In Ireland, Abbott currently employs about 6,000 people across ten sites located in Dublin, Donegal, Clonmel, Cootehill, Galway, Kilkenny, Longford and Sligo.
Primary Function
* Follow all Health and Safety Rules and Regulations in the plant.
* Report any current or potential hazards to your manager immediately.
* The correct Personal Protective Equipment (P.P.E.) must be worn at all times. Consult the appropriate SOP where required.
* The Specialist is responsible for consulting any SOP’s for any job task he/she may carry out and ensure they fully understand and adhere to the SOP.
* Identify user system requirements as directed/instructed by the IT Manager and take the proposal through the SDLC to live system, using third party developers as necessary.
* It is important that cGMP is a main priority in any operation carried out in this job function.
* Provide second line support on certain systems as directed by the IT Manager.
* Carry out project and development work if required by the I.T. Manager.
* Provide I.T. advice to employees and management on an ongoing basis as required.
* This role involves liaison with Country, Division and Corporate I.T. where development of new systems will enhance information technology in the ANSC Ireland Plants.
* This Job function will change where update procedures to cGMP, EHS, Technical / New Equipment, Quality Procedures & SOP’s are made.
* Maintain own training records on Compliancewire and Isotrain Systems.
* Participate in continuous improvement projects as workload permits under the direction of the I.T. Manager.
* Liaise with all departments in a friendly, constructive and open manner.
Major Responsibilities
* To be the point of contact for IT at the site and liaison to outsourced resources/teams where applicable (e.g. IBM, Wipro)
* To ensure Abbott Quality Assurance Policies and Procedures are fully implemented and operational for all I.T. Systems.
* Where possible identify new methods/techniques and equipment which can be used to assist in making the department more cost effective and efficient.
* Provide assistance to the I.T. Manager and all personnel in relation to I.T. issues.
Education Required/Knowledge
* Degree level qualification in an IT related discipline
* Professional experience preferred but not essential
* Excellent communication and analytical skills.
* Problem solving skills is essential for this position.
* A high degree of integrity and confidentiality is required.
* Project management experience in a regulated industry preferred
* Hardware experience, particularly desktop, server and network essential
* Validation experience a distinct advantage
* A good grounding in Cybersecurity principles, tools and threat analysis a distinct advantage, including NIS2
Accountability / Scope
* This position is responsible for ensuring that adequate procedures and controls are in place and aid communication to all the employees. Prompt response to I.T. problems especially where they have an effect on the process should be given immediate attention.
