Job Title: Order Picker / Warehouse Operative

Job Purpose:
To ensure the efficient and accurate picking, packing, and dispatching of orders within the warehouse, contributing to the overall smooth operation of the electrical distribution business.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Order Picking:
Accurately pick products from designated warehouse locations based on customer orders using handheld scanners or picking sheets.
Ensure correct quantities, product codes, and items are selected according to order specifications.
Follow specific picking routes to minimize time and maximize efficiency.
2. Order Packing:
Carefully pack picked items into appropriate boxes or packaging materials to prevent damage during transit.
Ensure all packages are correctly labeled with shipping information and any necessary documentation.
Use protective materials such as bubble wrap, foam, or padding to secure items, particularly delicate or high-value electrical components.
3. Inventory Management:
Assist in stock counting and inventory checks to ensure accurate stock levels.
Report any discrepancies or issues with stock to the Warehouse Manager.
Maintain cleanliness and organization in the warehouse to ensure items are easily accessible and stock rotation is maintained.
4. Quality Control:
Inspect items for any defects or damage before packing to ensure high standards of quality control.
Report any damaged or faulty items to the relevant department for further action.
Adhere to all company quality assurance processes and procedures.
5. Health & Safety:
Comply with all health and safety regulations within the warehouse environment.
Operate warehouse equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks safely and responsibly.
Ensure personal protective equipment (PPE) is worn as required and report any hazards or unsafe conditions immediately.
6. Documentation & Record-Keeping:
Complete all required paperwork or electronic records related to picking, packing, and dispatching of orders.
Ensure that all shipping and receiving documentation is accurate and up-to-date.
7. Collaboration & Communication:
Work closely with other warehouse operatives, supervisors, and the customer service team to ensure timely and accurate order fulfillment.
Communicate effectively with team members regarding order priorities and any issues that arise.
8. Equipment Maintenance:
Assist in the maintenance and cleanliness of warehouse equipment and report any malfunctions or damage.
Ensure tools and equipment are stored correctly after use.

Qualifications & Experience:
Experience: Previous experience in a warehouse or distribution environment is preferred.
Licenses: Forklift certification is an advantage but not required.
Working Conditions:
Environment: Warehouse environment with exposure to temperature variations, noise, and heavy machinery.
Hours: 6.30am to 3.00pm Mon-Thurs & 6.30am to *****pm Fri
Physical Requirements: Regular lifting, bending, and moving of heavy objects (up to (specify weight limit)).
