Reporting to the Chief Executive, the Director of Finance will lead and manage the finance function within the Authority. As a member of the Senior Management Team, the Director of Finance may also have other responsibilities in the overall management of the Authority. As a key member of the Senior Management team, the successful candidate will be required to make a valuable contribution to the strategic management of the Finance function as well as provide a high level of independence and objectivity.

Main Duties of the Job
Leadership of the finance function and the management (including performance management), development, training and education of all finance staff to ensure the highest standards of quality.
The fostering & facilitation of a continuous professional development culture within the finance and other functions as may be assigned.
The promotion and monitoring of a financial proficiency & ownership culture amongst all staff throughout the organisation.
Preparation, implementation and ongoing review of the Local Authorities’ Strategic Business Plan & Future Financial Plans.

Salary Scale effective from 1st February 2026:
Hours of attendance will be fixed from time to time but will amount to not less than 35 hours gross per week.
The annual leave allowance for the position of Director of Finance is 30 days.
