Description
The purpose of this Clinical Nurse Manager II / Clinical Nurse Specialist role is to implement a non ED direct access route for Oncology patients who are experiencing a disease or treatment related complication during and up to six weeks after their treatment plan. The appointee will be responsible for undertaking a patient assessment (virtually and in person) and act as a point of contact for patients in the out-patient setting. The appointee will provide increased access to specialised oncology nursing care for patients receiving Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapies (SACT) and Oral Anti-Cancer Medicines (OAM) to further enhance patient safety and minimise risks. As part of the triage and assessment the appointee will need to consider whether the symptoms could be COVID-19 related and the prompt management if this is the case using the COVID hospital pathways. The appointee will work within the acute oncology service and SIVUH cancer nursing service as a member of the team.
