About the role – MEP Pre-Construction Manager
This senior leadership role focuses on driving MEP strategy during the critical pre-construction phase of major design and build projects.
You will ensure all mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems are fully coordinated, cost-effective and aligned with programme and client expectations before construction begins.
Working closely with clients, consultants, subcontractors and internal delivery teams, you will provide technical direction across design development, cost planning, value engineering and procurement strategy, ensuring projects are set up for successful delivery from the outset.
Key Responsibilities
Lead all MEP activities from concept design through to contract award
Review MEP designs, drawings and specifications for compliance, quality and buildability
Coordinate closely with architects, engineers and consultants to optimise design solutions
Develop MEP cost plans, budgets and value engineering proposals
Provide technical input into tenders including scope definition and risk analysis
Assess and recommend MEP subcontractors and suppliers during tender stages
Ensure full coordination of MEP systems with architectural and structural elements
Lead MEP design workshops, coordination meetings and technical reviews
Contribute to project programmes, logistics planning and procurement strategies
Monitor regulatory changes and ensure compliance with current standards
Support seamless transition from pre-construction to delivery teams
About You
Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Building Services or related discipline
10+ years' experience in MEP design, construction or pre-construction roles
Strong background within main contractors or building services consultancies
Proven experience leading MEP input from concept through to contract award
Excellent technical knowledge of mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems
Experience in cost planning, budgeting and value engineering
Strong understanding of building regulations and industry standards
Skilled in stakeholder management with clients, consultants and subcontractors
Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks and Microsoft Office
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects
Chartered Engineer status or working towards chartership is advantageous
Experience with BIM coordination and sustainable design principles is beneficial
Must be based in Ireland with full working rights
