Overview
Basic Grade Occupational Therapist - Inpatient Mental Health Services. Nua Healthcare Services (Nua) is one of Ireland's leading Private Healthcare Providers, specialising in Residential, Mental health and Supported Living Services, to both Children and Adults with a range of complex support needs.
We are seeking applications from a suitably qualified Basic Grade Occupational Therapist to work in the newly developed inpatient mental health service, working alongside a Senior Occupational Therapist and a diverse multidisciplinary team. Candidates must demonstrate the necessary interest, capability, performance and enthusiasm in line with the requirements of this role.
Location
Gormanston, approximately 30 minutes from Dublin City Centre.

Job Objectives
This will include the following on a day-to-day basis.
Professional / Clinical
* Live our Mission, Vision and Values.
* Represent the Occupational Therapy profession and promote the profile of occupational therapy within the Low Secure Services and throughout the organisation.
* Demonstrate proficiency in prioritising referrals according to clinical needs.
* Facilitate individual and group therapy programmes in line with assessed needs and evidence-based practice.
* Collaborate with other relevant multidisciplinary colleagues for complex individual presentations to ensure a holistic approach to care.
* Communicate oral and written information clearly and appropriately to the content and audience.
* Manage own caseload and undertake assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of treatment programmes for individuals according to service standards.
* Foster and maintain professional working relationships with colleagues and other healthcare personnel.
* Ensure quality documentation of assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, reports and discharge summaries in line with local service and professional standards.
* Attend clinics, review meetings, team meetings, case conferences and ward rounds as designated by the Senior Occupational Therapist.
* Adhere to existing standards and protocols and contribute to quality improvement and outcome measurement.
* Seek advice and assistance with duties in line with evidence-based practice and clinical governance.
* Ensure professional standards regarding confidentiality, ethics and legislation.
* Operate within the scope of Occupational Therapy practice in accordance with local and national guidelines.
Education and Training
* Participate in mandatory training programmes.
* Engage in continuing professional development including in-service training, attending and presenting at conferences/courses relevant to practice, and contributing to research as agreed with the Senior Occupational Therapist and Occupational Therapy Manager.
* Engage in professional clinical supervision with the Senior Occupational Therapist.
* Participate in performance reviews with the Occupational Therapy Manager.
* Participate in group reflective practice.
Health & Safety
* Promote a safe working environment in accordance with Health and Safety legislation and local policy.
* Be aware of and implement agreed policies, procedures and safe professional practice by adhering to relevant legislation, regulations and standards.
* Actively participate in risk management, identify risks and take appropriate action.
* Report any adverse incidents in accordance with organisational guidelines.
Administrative
* Promote good working practice and uniformity of best practice standards.
* Contribute to quality by reviewing and evaluating the Occupational Therapy service within the Low Secure Unit, in collaboration with the Senior Occupational Therapist, Occupational Therapist Manager, Clinical Director, Director of Nursing and relevant others.
* Develop and implement service/business plans, quality initiatives, audits and report on outcomes with the Occupational Therapist Manager and Senior Occupational Therapist.
* Collect and evaluate data about groups and demonstrate achievement of service objectives.
* Maintain accurate records in line with governance, organisational requirements and the Freedom of Information Act, and provide reports and statistics as required.
* Represent the department/team at meetings and conferences as appropriate.
* Promote good team working and a culture that values diversity.
* Engage in IT developments as they apply to service administration.
* Stay up to date with developments within the organisation and the Irish Health Service.
* Perform other duties as may be assigned by the Clinical Director, Director of Nursing or the Senior Occupational Therapist.
Qualification & Skills
* Possess a recognised professional post-graduate qualification in clinical psychology.
* If qualified outside the Republic of Ireland, have qualification validated by the Department of Health or be working towards meeting compensatory criteria; validation letter to be included with the application. Nua can support supervision for compensatory measures.
* All candidates must meet the registration requirements of the Psychological Society of Ireland.
* Knowledge of the Judgement Support Framework and experience supporting compliance with same.
* Excellent overall demeanour; ability to empathise with and understand others; excellent organisational, verbal and written communication, and IT skills.
* Willingness to work as part of a multi-departmental team; reliable, flexible, and capable of self-directed work in a dynamic environment.
