You will be responsible for analysing and interpreting audience, content and subscriptions data across The Irish Times Group, providing actionable insights that help inform editorial, product, and commercial strategies.The Senior Data Analyst will transform complex datasets into clear narratives, enabling data-informed decision-making that enhances audience engagement, drives revenue growth, and supports our mission to deliver impactful journalism.Core ResponsibilitiesData Analysis & InsightRetrieve and analyse data using excel, SQL & Python.Apply logical thinking to gathering and analysing the information.Gain a deep understanding of the processes that are underpinning the metrics and goals and perform deep dive analysis on the data to identify trends and provide analysis of user behaviour across a number of services and platforms.Analyse audience engagement, content consumption patterns, and conversion funnels across platforms (web, app, newsletter, social, video, etc.).Translate complex datasets into actionable insights that inform editorial, marketing, subscriptions and product strategiesReporting & VisualisationDevelop and maintain interactive, user-friendly dashboards and automated reports in tools like Power BI, that communicate insight derived from analysis to the business.Present insights and recommendations to senior stakeholders in clear, compelling narratives.Data Strategy & CollaborationPartner with cross-functional teams to define key metrics and KPIs that align with organisational goals.Lead key analytics projects from scoping through delivery.Champion best practices in data governance, quality, and analytics processes.Contribute to the definition of company-wide data definitions, terminology, data quality and business rules.Responsible along with the wider analytics team for the data integrity and assurance that the data is correct and current, especially if goals or focus change.Identify and investigate data anomalies, outliers or potential outages in data streams, ensuring timely escalation and resolution.Support the development of data models and pipelines in collaboration with data engineering.Qualifications and Experience:Honours degree in Computer Science, Data Analytics, Information Systems, Engineering, Mathematics or closely related disciplines.5+ years' experience in data analysis, preferably within a subscription-based, digital media, or consumer-facing environment.Strong SQL and Python skills and experience working with large-scale data querying essential.Advanced skills in Excel for data manipulation and statistical analysis.Proficiency in analytics tools such as Power BI, Tableau or similar.Experience with Snowflake or similar cloud-based data platform.Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex findings to non-technical audiences.Deep understanding of digital metrics, including engagement, retention, funnels, subscriptions, and audience segmentation.Personal Specifications:Strategic thinking and problem-solving.Excellent analytic skills, able to conduct and distil complex analysis to clear, actionable insightsStrong communication and collaboration skills.Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, with strong organisational abilities.Ability to translate business needs into analytics solutions.Close personal alignment with the principals of the Irish Times Trust.Please send your CV through the Apply below.
