About the role
This is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing all financial operations, ensuring robust financial controls, and supporting strategic decision-making within a busy environment. The Financial Controller will lead the finance function on-site, producing accurate financial reports, managing budgets, ensuring compliance with company financial policies and drive best practices across the business operations. This role works closely with senior management to deliver strong financial performance and maintain the highest standards of financial governance.
As Financial Controller, you will oversee the financial operations of all events while complying with financial policies and regulations, reporting directly to the Managing Director.
Key Responsibilities
* Financial Planning & Analysis: Develop and implement financial strategies, monthly budgets, and forecasts.
* Produce accurate financial reports including forecasting revenue, costs, profitability, P&L accounts.
* Financial Reporting: Deliver accurate monthly statements and insightful analysis to support decision-making for the business.
* Cash Flow & Risk Management: Ensure liquidity, optimise cash flow, and maintain robust internal controls.
* Budgeting & Cost Control: Drive efficiency and profitability through effective cost management.
* Strategic Support: Provide financial modelling and recommendations for investment and growth opportunities.
* Team Leadership: Lead and develop a high-performing team, fostering collaboration and continuous improvement.
* Systems & Process Improvement: Oversee implementation and optimisation of finance systems (accounting software, inventory tools, event budgeting platforms).
* Oversee the processing of purchase orders and invoices, ensuring correct coding to nominal accounts and adherence to financial policy.
* Review and improve financial workflows and reporting tools to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
* Administrating company monthly payroll accurately and ensure timely EFT payments and complete monthly PAYE reconciliation.
* Complete and submit bi-monthly vat returns.
* Prepare monthly management accounts in line with company policy and bank reporting requirements.
Requirements
* ACA/FCA or ACCA partly or fully qualified.
* Proven experience as an assistant Financial Controller or Financial Controller within hospitality is a must.
* Strong commercial, analytical and technical skills; highly proficient in Excel, strong IT and systems skills and financial systems.
* Leadership experience, excellent communication, and the ability to perform under pressure with accuracy and integrity.
* Strong IT and systems skills, including financial software and Excel.
* Proven ability to manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
* Strong communication skills and ability to work with non-financial managers.
* Strong expertise in financial management, budgeting, and forecasting.
* You must be currently located in Ireland and can travel.
