Job Profile
The Lead Mechanical Design Engineer will be part of the R&D department, leading the mechanical aspects of projects developing next-generation vision systems for the automotive market. The role involves ensuring robust design delivery on time and within budget, working within a multidisciplinary team.
Responsibilities:
* Lead mechanical design projects and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on Advanced Driver Assistance Systems, including cameras, ECUs, and domain controllers.
* Represent R&D in project, customer, and supplier interactions.
* Interface effectively across different teams.
* Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers.
* Support other departmental tasks as needed.
* Prioritize work at daily, weekly, and project levels.
* Identify and escalate resource needs, including training and performance issues.
* Lead technical activities such as product validation, tolerance analysis, DFMEA, and design optimization.
* Manage project documentation in the PLM database.
* Support technical architecture and standards.
Education/Training:
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or related field.
Professional Experience:
* Minimum 5+ years in Mechanical Design.
* Experience in high-volume manufacturing product development.
* Tooling and moulding expertise, including part improvement suggestions.
* Proficiency with engineering tools such as DOE and SPC.
* Strong problem-solving skills and methodical approach.
* Experience in 2D drawings and 3D CAD design.
* Self-motivated, able to work independently or in a team.
* Demonstrates commitment, initiative, and quality workmanship.
* Excellent communication skills in English, both written and spoken.
* Previous senior/lead engineering or team management experience.
* Automotive environment experience, especially with vision products and electronics.
* Experience with tolerance analysis and stack-up analysis.
* Proficiency in detailed drawings and GD&T.
* Experience in designing thermal solutions (active and passive) is a plus.
