Purpose of the Role
Clinical Duties
* Nutritional assessment and dietetic intervention for patients referred from the General Paediatrics.
* Provision of Nutrition and Dietetics services to other clinical areas/specialities supported by the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics, when required.
* Liaise with Consultants and other members of the multidisciplinary team, formula room and catering staff regarding the co-ordination of dietetic intervention.
* Attend and participate in ward rounds and multidisciplinary team meetings to promote integrated patient care.
* Consult with parents/guardians/clients regarding treatment, planning and nutrition education as appropriate.
* Monitor and evaluate dietetic care plans and interventions.
* Participate in the development of clinical protocols and guidelines that are reflective of evidence based practice.
* Education, training and development in the specific clinical area and act as a resource for other members of staff and other health professionals.
Administrative Duties
* Be responsible for daily administration duties and overall caseload management for clinical area.
* Record activity statistics, prepare reports and engage in service planning activities in consultation with the Dietitian Manager and senior staff.
* Positively represent the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics through effective communication and engagement with other disciplines.
Education Duties
* Contribute to the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics education sessions.
* Partake in career and personal development planning in collaboration with the Dietitian Manager.
* Engage in professional supervision, mentoring and/ or tutoring to identify areas for skill development.
* Maintain standards of professional knowledge through personal study and attendance at appropriate courses and conferences.
* Participate and play a key role in the practice education of student Dietitians.
Quality Improvement
* Undertake quality improvement activities to determine the effectiveness of nutrition and dietetics for the assigned clinical area.
* Participate in department quality improvement activities.
Other
* Abide by the code of ethics of the Irish Nutrition & Dietetic Institute (INDI)/CORU
* The post holder will be expected to live CHI values and be child-centered, compassionate, progressive and will act with respect, excellence and integrity.

Essential Criteria:
Candidates must:
* Be registered as a Dietitian by the Dietitians Registration Board at CORU.
* Have the requisite knowledge and ability (including a high standard of suitability and professional ability) for the proper discharge of the duties of the office.
* Provide proof of Statutory Registration on the Dietitians Register maintained by the Dietitians Registration Board at CORU before a contact of employment can be issued.
