Visual Inspection Engineer
Summary
The Visual Inspection Engineer supports GMP-compliant visual inspection operations within a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment, ensuring product quality, regulatory compliance, and process robustness. The role provides technical leadership across inspection processes, validation activities, defect management, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities
1. Support visual inspection operations in compliance with safety, regulatory, quality, and organisational requirements
2. Develop, review, and maintain procedures and SOPs aligned with global standards and regulatory guidance
3. Participate in and lead process, equipment, and facilities commissioning, qualification, and validation activities
4. Review, approve, and execute validation and qualification protocols to meet project timelines
5. Lead and contribute to Visual Inspection Process FMEAs and risk assessments
6. Establish, lead, and optimise technician certification and training programmes for visual inspection
7. Develop and maintain the visual inspection defect library and defect trending systems
8. Provide technical leadership during project lifecycle activities, including new product introductions and technical transfers
9. Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders on defect evaluation and particle analysis
10. Investigate process deviations, malfunctions, and inspection-related incidents to ensure robust corrective actions
11. Support production teams to achieve output, yield, and Right First Time performance
12. Liaise with Engineering, Quality, Validation, and external service providers as required
Requirements
13. Degree or Master's qualification in engineering, science, or a related technical discipline
14. Minimum of three years' experience in a pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or healthcare manufacturing environment
15. Proven experience supporting operations, quality, or technical functions within GMP-regulated facilities
16. Knowledge of sterile or parenteral manufacturing processes including fill-finish, lyophilisation, sterilisation, or solution preparation
17. Experience with visual inspection processes, validation principles, and defect management preferred
18. Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work under pressure and exercise independent judgement
19. High attention to detail with a strong commitment to quality, compliance, and Perfect Performance principles
20. Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders
21. Demonstrated integrity, ownership, and a results-driven approach to continuous improvement
