This is a rare and exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping the strategic direction and long-term success of a new oncology service from the ground up.You will lead and inspire a team of Radiation Therapists, working closely with a highly supportive Radiation Therapy Manager who champions innovation, excellence, and staff wellbeing. This role offers genuine influence, professional autonomy, and the chance to contribute meaningfully to patient outcomes every single day.About the RoleAs Clinical Specialist Radiation Therapist, you will collaborate with renowned Radiation Oncologists, Medical Physicists, and multidisciplinary teams, utilising cutting-edge radiation therapy technology to deliver safe, precise, and compassionate patient care.This role combines expert clinical practice with leadership, governance, and operational oversight, while also offering opportunities to engage in research, clinical trials, and quality improvement initiatives within a progressive cancer care environment.Key ResponsibilitiesLead, manage, and mentor a team of Radiation Therapists, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, patient-centred radiation therapy servicesWork collaboratively with Radiation Oncologists and Medical Physicists to develop, review, and implement individualised treatment plansMaintain the highest standards of patient safety through strict adherence to departmental protocols and regulatory requirementsOversee and manage the department’s Quality Assurance (QA) programme, ensuring all equipment and procedures meet required standardsMonitor staff performance, providing ongoing feedback, training, and professional development supportEnsure accurate treatment documentation, auditing, and compliance with governance and regulatory frameworksActively participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and complex case discussionsContribute to service development, research projects, clinical trials, and quality improvement initiativesBuild strong internal and external stakeholder relationships to enhance the overall patient experienceProvide compassionate communication and support to patients and their families throughout the treatment journeyEligibility CriteriaRecognised qualification in Radiation TherapyCurrent CORU registrationMinimum 6 years’ experience as a Radiation Therapist, including at least 2 years in a senior or supervisory roleDemonstrated leadership, management, and team development skillsStrong understanding of clinical governance, quality standards (JCI, HIQA), and operational complianceEvidence of empathetic, holistic, and patient-focused careProven ability to manage complaints effectively and professionallyExcellent organisational, communication, interpersonal, and time-management skillsAbility to make independent clinical decisions and solve complex problemsHighly competitive salary with performance-related and premium pay where applicableComprehensive pension scheme and Death in Service benefit (x3 salary)Company-funded Critical Illness Cover up to age 66Strong commitment to work-life balance and employee wellbeingFully paid maternity and paternity leaveAccess to cutting-edge radiation therapy equipment and technologyWork alongside a supportive Radiation Therapy Manager and a dynamic team of leading oncologistsExcellent opportunities for career progression, leadership development, and professional growthWhat you need to do nowFor more information about this exciting opportunity, please contact Charlene Cooke confidentially via email at ccooke@excelrecruitment.com or by phone on 00353 89 9455139.
