Urology Clinical Nurse Specialist Role
Clinical nurse specialists in urology play a pivotal role in delivering advanced patient care, education, and emotional support to individuals with complex urological conditions. They work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams to promote timely intervention, ensure continuity of care, and uphold the highest standards of practice in line with national clinical guidelines.
Key Responsibilities:
* Deliver expert nursing care to patients with urological conditions across all stages of care.
* Provide evidence-based education and support to patients and their families to empower informed decision-making.
* Lead on care coordination and effectively liaise with consultants, GPs, and allied health professionals to optimize patient outcomes.
* Actively contribute to service development, quality improvement initiatives, and clinical audit to drive excellence in urology care.
* Support the implementation of national policies and clinical guidelines within the urology service to ensure consistency and compliance.
Requirements:
* Registered in the General Division of the NMBI (Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland).
* Minimum 3-5 years post-registration experience in an acute care setting, preferably in urology or related specialties.
* A recognized post-registration qualification in Urology or consideration for those with renal/dialysis experience.
* Demonstrated clinical expertise and professional development in urological or related nursing care.
* Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills to facilitate effective team collaboration.
* Proven ability to work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality patient care.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office and clinical IT systems to streamline workflow and enhance productivity.
* Experience in risk management, clinical audit, and service evaluation is highly desirable to drive continuous quality improvement.
