Key Bid Manager Role
The company is seeking a skilled and experienced Bid Manager to lead the tendering process for energy-related projects.
Responsibilities
1. Lead the end-to-end tendering process, from initial qualification to submission.
2. Analyse tender documents and customer requirements, assessing opportunities, feasibility, risks, and potential for the company.
3. Develop comprehensive and competitive bids, proposals, and pricing structures to maximise profitability while meeting client expectations.
4. Ensure compliance with all technical, financial, legal, and regulatory standards required within the industry.
5. Identify and develop a reliable supply chain for various activities within our sector.
6. Keep project reference lists updated with completed projects and develop associated case studies.
7. Work closely with engineering, project management, finance, procurement, administration, and legal teams to gather input for bid proposals.
8. Coordinate with external suppliers, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to gather accurate data and cost estimates.
9. Act as a liaison between clients, consultants, and the internal team to ensure clear communication and expectations alignment.
10. Mentor and manage junior tendering engineers.
11. Conduct market research and competitor analysis to keep abreast of industry trends and identify new opportunities.
12. Analyse market conditions, identify tender opportunities in the industry, and work proactively to develop strategies to secure contracts.
13. Maintain a solid understanding of industry policies, regulatory changes, and developments.
14. Assess and manage risks associated with tender proposals, including financial, legal, operational, and environmental factors.
15. Work with the risk management team to ensure all risks are identified, mitigated, and documented in line with company policies.
16. Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, and key stakeholders within the industry.
17. Lead negotiations and communicate effectively with clients to align with requirements and ensure smooth contract awards.
18. Present bids to clients, address any clarifications, and participate in post-tender negotiations.
19. Ensure governance is followed in line with client project delivery processes.
20. Ensure all bid documentation is accurate, complete, and meets client requirements and deadlines.
21. Develop and maintain a database of tenders, including lessons learned, for continuous improvement.
22. Prepare regular reports on tender status, win/loss analysis, and overall performance metrics for senior management.
Requirements
* Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master's degree or relevant professional certification is an advantage.
* Experience: 7+ years of experience in tendering, proposals, or project management within the energy or utilities sector, ideally within the Irish or EU market.
* Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of the energy industry, specifically in renewable energy, power generation, or infrastructure projects.
* Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and Word. Familiarity with tendering software and CRM tools.
* Financial Acumen: Ability to prepare accurate and competitive pricing and financial models.
* Project Management: Strong organisational and project management skills, with experience managing complex, multi-stakeholder bids.
* Negotiation and Communication: Excellent negotiation, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
