Zurich Insurance Europe AG, Ireland Branch is seeking a Business Lines New Business Underwriter.
The New Business Team handles the insurance needs of our Business Lines customers via our broker channel. The Underwriter will collaborate closely with broker partners and internal teams such as the Head of New Business, Pricing, Line of Business Heads, Claims, Finance, Sales & Distribution, and Risk Engineering to ensure all activities comply with policies, authority levels, and guidelines, while achieving financial targets.
Your Role
Your main responsibilities include:
* Underwrite and analyze new business submissions according to the Zurich Way of underwriting, risk appetite, and delegated authority.
* Negotiate terms and conditions with broker partners aligned with strategy and risk appetite, fostering broker relationships.
* Manage and prioritize the new business pipeline and work queues, ensuring SLA adherence in partnership with Sales and Distribution.
* Engage with Sales, Distribution, Risk Engineering, and brokers to generate and secure new business opportunities.
* Build relationships to support customer acquisition and retention, handle queries, and provide advice for account development.
* Implement technical standards, controls, and procedures to maintain underwriting discipline.
* Contribute ideas for new or improved propositions based on insights, supporting testing, pricing, and training.
* Comply with Central Bank standards and Zurich's quality assurance processes.
* Maintain accurate underwriting records as per regulatory and internal requirements.
* Identify and participate in training opportunities; be flexible for ad hoc projects; occasionally handle renewals to deliver superior service.
Your Skills and Experience
Required qualifications include:
* At least 3 years of industry experience.
* Professional qualifications such as CIP, MDI, or ACII (or working towards them).
* Strong technical insurance knowledge, especially in Commercial Insurance.
* Excellent numerical, analytical, communication, and negotiation skills.
* Ability to work well in a team and independently, with strong planning, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
* Proactive attitude, flexibility, and a customer-focused approach.
