We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team as a Commercial Underwriting Manager.
Key Responsibilities:
* Oversee the department's daily operations, including HR, staff appraisals, morale, attendance, and objectives in collaboration with other departments.
* Train and develop underwriting staff while encouraging self-sufficiency in underwriting decisions and broker relationships.
* Monitor and maintain strong relationships with capital providers, overseeing annual income growth and loss ratio performance.
* Report on sales, conversion, renewal retention, and broker trends to drive business growth.
* Ensure consistency in dealing with supporting brokers and increase the number of supporting brokers under board direction.
Additional Responsibilities:
* Present department sales statistics at monthly management meetings and work alongside the marketing department to drive product awareness and inquiries.
* Maintain KennCo service levels, including document flow, account queries, and overall efficiency.
* Provide weekly and monthly reporting on sales and performance to stakeholders.
* Head up product development, wordings, pricing, and improvements to stay ahead in the market.
Requirements:
* Proven experience in commercial insurance sales with technical knowledge across commercial lines.
* Senior underwriting or underwriting management role experience.
* Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage, motivate, and develop a team.
* Excellent commercial awareness and market dynamics understanding.
* Delivering profitable underwriting results track record.
* Broker relationship management and negotiation skills.
* Regulatory requirements and governance frameworks knowledge.
* Analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
* Proficient in underwriting systems and Microsoft Office suite.
