* Role Purpose (Summary)
To assist the Category Management Function in driving the development of the Cooked Meats Category and OBrien Fine Foods product portfolio within key retail customers to deliver not only the retailers objectives but also the business objectives for both brand and own label. The category analyst will perform an analytical / support role as internal consultant, specialising in customer insight & intelligence and supporting the Category function in building business growth plans.
Provide category support for ad hoc category projects with key customers and retail partners while ensuring that the strengths and values of OBrien Fine Foods are further reinforced with best practice and integrity as key values of the business.
* Key Responsibilities
Work in partnership with the Category & Strategic Insights Manager to help deliver the annual sales, profit, distribution and market share targets within the market as defined within the annual budget
Support the Category & Strategic Insights Manager in the development and delivery of a commercially sound category and range plan in partnership with key customers developing our customers business and OBrien Fine Foods business with them.
Responsible for updating and writing commentary on the monthly reports ensuring there are no errors or technical issues with charts and circulate to key people within the group each month
Use planogramming software to update retailer planograms and reviews ensuring best possible assortment and flow and that the shopper decision trees are used as the foundation for all projects
Work closely with external continuous data providers to ensure that OBrien Fine Foods category databases are coded correctly and maintained
Co-ordinate OBrien Fine Foods merchandising guidelines keeping up to date with category space allocation and flow guidelines across the marketplace

Undertake research and/or store tests in order to review regularly the optimum merchandising layouts
Undertake ad hoc strategic category analysis or market assessment work on new markets and/or product sectors as and when requested.
Along with the duties described above, you will be required to be flexible and to undertake such other work as may be assigned to you from time to time.

Degree level qualification (preferably 2:1 or above) or equivalent

An excellent understanding of Excel is essential
