We currently have a vacancy for a Scientist within our exciting Gene Therapy team.
The purpose of this role is to carry out scientific test procedures on client samples and produce accurate results within an acceptable time frame using company procedures. The Scientist will also be responsible for completing more technically challenging analyses and developing ancillary procedures related to the methods and systems used, ensuring customer samples meet required specifications. The role supports complex analytical testing and high-level projects.
The main duties include:
1. Developing and validating new tests and procedures, including protocol and report writing.
2. Reviewing protocols and reports technically.
3. Completing technological projects and documenting results accurately and confidentially for clients.
4. Reviewing data and documentation, including raw data, qualification reports, and quality documents.
5. Participating in client and regulatory audits, demonstrating our systems and explaining test data.
6. Signing technical documents after successful training, including reports, SOPs, and investigation documents.
7. Deputising for management as needed.
8. Communicating with clients appropriately, representing the company on projects, participating in updates, meetings, and reviews.
9. Collaborating with the Section Manager to ensure resource availability for testing timelines.
10. Reviewing test methods for quotations.
11. Identifying opportunities for quality and service improvements and working on continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications required include a degree in Molecular Cell Biology, Immunology, Virology, or Biochemistry, with experience in qPCR, sequencing, ddPCR, cell-based assays, and method validation. A minimum of 5 years in a regulated lab environment or a Master's degree plus 3 years' experience is expected. Candidates should be organized, accurate, strong in documentation, and passionate about quality and customer service, with good communication skills.
