Role Overview
The Cloud Analyst (Contractor) provides hands‑on operational support across
Azure and OCI environments
, supporting business‑as‑usual cloud operations, governance controls, monitoring, identity management, and cloud service readiness.
The role bridges the gap between junior operational support and senior cloud engineering, taking ownership of
day‑to‑day cloud operational tasks
, proactive issue identification, and cross‑team coordination, while working within established cloud standards, security controls, and operating models.
Required Experience & Skills
Essential
* Hands‑on experience supporting
Azure
in an operational environment.
* Working knowledge of
Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI)
* Strong understanding of:
* Cloud monitoring and alerting
* RBAC and identity management concepts
* Ability to independently triage and resolve common cloud operational issues.
* Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
* Clear written and verbal communication.
Desirable
* Experience working in regulated or enterprise environments.
* Exposure to backup, DR, or business continuity operations.
* Familiarity with CMDB processes and asset governance.
* Cloud certifications (Azure or OCI) – not mandatory for contract roles.
Key Responsibilities
1. Cloud Operations & Monitoring
2. Proactively
monitor Azure and OCI environments
using enterprise monitoring and alerting platforms.
3. Investigate and triage alerts
related to
performance, availability, capacity, and user/service errors
.
4. Perform first‑ and second‑line analysis before escalation to senior engineers or vendors.
5. Validate remediation actions and confirm service recovery.
6. Azure & OCI Platform Support
7. Support operational management of cloud resources including:
8. Virtual machines and platform services
9. Resource groups, compartments, and subscriptions
10. Networking and connectivity dependencies (at operational level)
11. Perform routine cloud hygiene activities (resource validation, tagging checks, lifecycle reviews).
12. Assist with onboarding new workloads into Azure and OCI under existing standards.
13. Identity & Access Management (IAM)
14. Process and review IAM requests across Azure and OCI:
15. Role‑based access control (RBAC)
16. Privileged Identity Management (PIM) requests
17. Admin consent reviews
18. Ensure access aligns with least‑privilege principles and operational policy.
19. Maintain audit‑ready records of access approvals and changes.
20. CMDB & Cloud Asset Governance
21. Maintain accuracy of cloud assets in the CMDB.
22. Reconcile cloud resources against CMDB records and identify discrepancies.
23. Support decommissioning activities and ensure records are updated correctly.
24. Work with service owners to confirm ownership and lifecycle status.
25. Backup, Recovery & DR Operational Support
26. Monitor backup and recovery job reports for cloud and hybrid workloads.
27. Identify failed or degraded backup jobs and coordinate follow‑up actions.
28. Support DR readiness activities by validating backup coverage and recovery data.
29. Assist with DR testing activities from an operational and evidence perspective.
30. Service Management & BAU Delivery
31. Work within ServiceNow (or equivalent ITSM tool) to manage cloud‑related incidents, requests, and changes.
32. Support change implementation activities under CAB‑approved processes.
33. Provide clear operational updates to stakeholders and cloud leadership.
34. Contribute to continuous improvement of Cloud Ops processes.
35. Documentation & Reporting
36. Maintain operational documentation, runbooks, and procedures.
37. Produce regular operational reports covering:
38. Cloud health and exceptions
39. IAM activity
40. Backup and DR visibility
41. Provide input into audits and compliance reviews as required.
