The Centre for Applied Bioscience Research (CABR) is a Research Centre and Technology Gateway that is a collaboration between Munster Technological University and the Technological University of the Shannon: Midlands Midwest.
The CABR Technology Gateway is co-funded by the Government of Ireland and the European Union through the ERDF Southern, Eastern & Midland Regional Programme 2021-27.
CABR responds to the challenges of biotech, food and life science industries through the sustainable development of viable and cost-effective processes and products from bio-resources. This collaborative and risk management approach improves our client’s competitiveness and competence and facilitates the transfer of these innovative scientific solutions. CABR is currently leading the SPRINGWOOL project, funded by the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine. The purpose of the SPRINGWOOL project is to identify and address bottlenecks in the use of wool for added value purposes.
The Centre for Applied Bioscience Research (CABR) are recruiting a Postdoctoral Scientist (Cell Culture)with high self motivation and excellent written and verbal communication skills to test a range of wool-based extracts on skin cell models (2-D and 3-D) for cosmetic and medical device applications. The SPRINGWOOL project is a collaboration between MTU, TUS, ATU and UCD.
Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must hold a minimum of an PhD degree in a biological science discipline or related science field.
Requirements: Essential:
* PhD in a biological science discipline including at least 2 years’ relevant mammalian cell culture experience in academia or industry
* Aseptic mammalian cell culture experience
* Cellular bioassay development
* Excellent demonstrated interpersonal skills
* Good organisational skills
* Report writing experience
* Practical experience of data analytics, statistical packages and presentation techniques
Desirable:
* Experience in biotechnology and/or microbiology
* Experience in biological extract preparation
Job Duties and Responsibilities
* Work under the direction of the project leader
* Plan and coordinate cell culture studies
* Prepare study reports
* Work with other team members as directed by the group lead
* Contribute to efficient running of the laboratory
Duration of Contract:
This post is available on a fixed term basis for an initial 15-month period.
Salary:
The salary for this position is €45,847
