Foxboro I/A System Administration Engineer – Cork, Ireland
PACIV, a global leader in industrial automation solutions, is looking for an experienced Foxboro I/A System Administration Engineer for a site‑based role in Cork, Ireland.
Job Overview
This role involves supporting the Foxboro I/A systems within a multinational life science manufacturing environment. You will work within the automation department to provide platform support, perform system administration, and maintain the Foxboro systems at the site. The position requires availability for contact out of hours on a 24/7 basis, including non‑scheduled call‑in to respond to plant emergencies and scheduled time to cover technical transfers and major project activity.
Responsibilities
Provide day‑to‑day support and administration for the site Foxboro I/A Systems.
Assist in maintaining the Foxboro I/A Systems, including servers, architecture, operating systems, security tools, and applications.
Engineering scope, design and support for automation hardware and software upgrade projects, and the implementation of new technologies.
Monitor systems health and respond to hardware issues as they arise.
Help configure and test platform equipment (e.g. servers, switches, workstations, thin clients) as needed.
Co‑ordinate and support the upgrade of infrastructure equipment.
Interact with other teams to assist in troubleshooting, identify root cause, and provide technical support when needed.
Identify and implement solutions to automate manual tasks where opportunities arise.
Co‑ordinate system changes and update technical documentation.
Requirements
Degree in Applied Physics and Instrumentation, Computer Science, Electrical or Electronic Engineering, or qualifications in another relevant discipline with appropriate experience.
Minimum 5 years’ experience in Foxboro I/A system administration.
Demonstrated ability to participate in and facilitate decision‑making.
Demonstrated initiative, good planning and organisational skills, ability to prioritise tasks, commitment to task completion and timelines.
Possess a keen technical curiosity and have demonstrated strong problem‑solving skills and a desire for continuous improvement.
Strong collaborative skills with an ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Demonstrated ability to influence peers and business partners.
Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills.
Self‑motivated, able to work independently.
Knowledge of GMP, regulatory requirements and computer system validation.
Proficient in English.
Preferred
Foxboro I/A training.
Experience with industrial networks/protocols, for example: OPC, Ethernet IP.
Experience with virtualisation technologies, thin clients.
Professional certifications.
Experience with Kneat electronic testing.
