We are recruiting for a: Medical Scientist / Biomedical Scientist Microbiology. We are currently seeking to recruit a Medical Scientist / Biomedical Scientist in Microbiology to join our Microbiology Department in Eurofins Biomnis in Sandyford, Dublin 18. To work as a Medical Scientist in Ireland, full CORU registration is required. CORU is the regulation body for Health and Social Care Professionals in Ireland. Any offer of employment is therefore limited by this obligation.

Job Description
Registered Medical Scientist / Biomedical Scientist role – working within the team environment to ensure the accurate & timely reporting of patient results. Working with the Senior medical scientist & Chief medical scientist to improve laboratory services and participate in EQA/IQA, EQC/IQC.
Responsibilities
* Use of Laboratory Information Management Systems in place in the laboratory.
* Be aware and be compliant with all the documentation related to your Department (Training record, SOPs, Forms).
* Assist in the completion of the department’s daily tasks, including work files, to a high standard to ensure patient results are delivered in a timely manner.
* Analyse specimens in a timely manner.
* Authorize results, ensuring result accuracy at all times.
* Evaluate results and communicate with your Senior or Chief Medical Scientist within the Microbiology Laboratory, Laboratory Services Manager, Consultant Microbiologist and/or the requesting clinician any relevant information regarding patient safety.
* Assist with the validations of new or amended methods/ kits/ equipment when required.
* Participation in EQA/IQA, EQC/ IQC.
* Contribute to the monitoring, recording and investigations for non-conformances and audits.
* Contribute to the monitoring and recording of complaints and investigations of clinical complaints, taking corrective action as appropriate.
* Participate in the management of reagent and consumable stock levels.
* Sample preparation and analysis in accordance with SOPs.
* Maintenance of instrumentation.
* Advise of any equipment failures or problems encountered in the course of carrying out duties.
* Clean/disinfect working areas daily.
* Demonstrate Good Laboratory Practice.

35 hours per week, Tuesday - Saturday
Qualifications
Education
* Bachelors Degree in Biomedical Science
Experience
* Relevant experience in a medical laboratory (microbiology) preferable but not essential
Licences / Certifications or Membership
Medical Scientist - CORU registered
or
Biomedical Scientist - HCPC registered
Skills & Abilities
* A diligent, strong work ethic with the ability to work independently, with thorough attention to detail and accuracy, and not afraid to ask for assistance from experienced colleagues to ensure an outstanding laboratory service
* Excellent organisational, interpersonal and communication skills
* A proven team player, willing to give support and receive it from peers
