We are currently recruiting Healthcare Assistants on behalf of a reputable hospital in Dublin.
The successful candidate will deliver high-quality, person-centred mental health nursing care in line with professional, ethical, and organisational standards.
The salary range is €29,568 – €33,949 per annum, depending on experience.
Hours of Work: 39 hours per week / 78 hours per fortnight Shift assignments will include day, night, weekend, and bank holiday shifts and will require flexibility to meet the operational needs of the service.
Key Responsibilities Assist patients/residents with personal hygiene, including bed bathing, showering, or bathing as required.
Make and change beds in accordance with infection control and comfort standards.
Assist patients/residents with dressing and grooming.
Safely lift, move, turn, and reposition patients/residents using appropriate equipment at all times.
Provide care for incontinent patients and those with colostomies and ileostomies, including supervision and assistance in toilets, on commodes, and in bathrooms, ensuring appropriate hygiene and use of continence products.
Assist with and remove bedpans, urinals, and commodes as required.
Record and monitor bowel function, urinary output, output from indwelling catheters (IDC), and urostomies, and report findings promptly to nursing staff throughout the shift.
Promote and assist with oral hygiene, including denture care, and provide hair, nail, and shaving care as required.
Assist patients/residents with mobilisation and prescribed exercise programmes.
Ensure patient comfort and safety at all times in line with local policies and procedures.
Assist patients/residents with nutritional intake as outlined in the care plan and accurately record same.
Assist nursing staff with clinical procedures when required.
Weigh patients/residents using appropriate equipment, record measurements accurately, and report results to nursing staff.
Provide and remove emesis containers and sputum cartons as required.
Demonstrate an understanding of skin integrity and promote and maintain healthy skin through positive preventative interventions.
Maintain effective and ongoing communication with nursing staff.
Assist nursing staff in the prevention and care of pressure injuries.
Requirements The successful candidate will have completed a QQI Level 5 or FETAC Level 5 (8 modules) qualification in Healthcare Support, Pre-Nursing, or a similar relevant nursing qualification.
A minimum of one year's relevant experience is required.
Previous experience working in a psychiatric or mental health environment is an advantage.
Care Skills and Care Support modules are essential.
