Overview
Dexgreen is involved in the design and manufacture of fibre optic cable and connectivity components. The company has a growing engineering team and is seeking to recruit an Optical Fibre Test Engineer to operate a full suite of optical fibre test equipment within the Engineering department, reporting to the Head of Product Development. The role includes maintaining routine test programmes and contributing to new product development within the R&D team. There is scope for growth and development within the company.
Responsibilities
Operating Test Equipment – General: The successful candidate will be trained in operating industry-leading telecommunications test equipment, including spectrum analysers, fibre optic test devices, mechanical load test fixtures, environmental chamber (damp heat / humidity testing) and other items as required.
Product Testing and Validation –
Support: Ongoing test programmes on optical fibre cable and connectivity using in-house test equipment.
New products: Assist the new product development team on testing new products.
Prototypes: Assist in preparing prototypes for presentation to internal and external stakeholders, including recording installation videos, training videos and other media to explain product applications.
Inspection and Approval –
Ongoing batch testing: Confirm compliance with specifications and prepare test reports for the Quality Assurance Manager and Quality Engineer.
New Product approval testing: Ensure compliance with test requirements/specifications and assist in compiling test reports for engineering review.
Standard Operating Procedures: Documentation of protocols and test reports.
Technical Guides –
General: Produce datasheets and installation guides for new products and contribute to the library of technical and test documentation.
Collaboration: Work with Marketing to ensure content is complete and accurate.
Skills & Requirements
3rd level degree: Degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, or Instrumentation. Strong computer skills and strong written and verbal communication skills.
General: Strong problem-solving aptitude. Experience in a workshop environment is advantageous. Comfortable with tools and model making.
Customer interaction: Ability to liaise with customers.
Organisational skills: Ability to work to tight deadlines.
IT literate: Software skills including Adobe Suite and MS Office.
Flexible and adaptable: Willing to travel on behalf of the company once settled.
