Placement: Connemara Rugby Club Community Employment Scheme – Connemara West Community Projects CLG
The Groundskeeper (CE Participant) will support the maintenance and upkeep of the grounds and facilities at Connemara Rugby Club. The role provides practical work experience, skills development, and training within a structured and supervised environment. This position forms part of the Community Employment Scheme and is developmental in nature.
Pitch and Grounds Maintenance
Grass cutting and line marking of pitches
Pitch repairs, divot replacement, and reseeding as required
General upkeep of playing surfaces
Striping, edging and weed control
Maintenance of surrounding grounds and spectator areas
Facilities Support – basic upkeep of clubhouse exterior areas
Litter control around grounds
Assisting with setup and takedown for matches and training sessions
Light painting or minor repairs as appropriate
Equipment Care – safe use and basic maintenance of lawnmowers and grounds equipment
Cleaning and proper storage of tools
Reporting faults or maintenance needs
Training and Development
Safe Pass / Manual Handling (as required)
Safe use of grounds maintenance equipment
Health and safety awareness
Teamwork and time management
Basic horticultural and turf-care skills
Further relevant training may be provided subject to CE scheme approval
Health & Safety
The participant must: Follow all safety procedures; wear appropriate PPE; comply with the Rugby Club’s safety guidelines and the CE Scheme requirements.
Reporting Structure
The participant will report to: The CE Supervisor (Connemara West Community Projects CLG) and a designated representative of Connemara Rugby Club.
Nature of Role
This is a developmental training position under the Community Employment Scheme and does not constitute a permanent role within Connemara Rugby Club.
