Position Summary
At voco The Club, we're looking for an enthusiastic Commis Chef to join our talented kitchen brigade.
This is a unique opportunity to be part of an exciting new project we are launching, where creativity, innovation, and fresh ideas will be at the heart of our food offering.
This role offers the chance to gain hands-on experience across different kitchen sections, including hot kitchen and pastry.
While prior pastry experience is advantageous, it's not essential — we're looking for passion, commitment, and a willingness to learn.
Key Responsibilities
Support senior chefs in preparing, cooking, and presenting high-quality dishes.
Assist with pastry production when required, including desserts, baking, and presentation.
Contribute ideas and energy to the new project, helping to deliver an exciting and memorable dining experience.
Maintain consistency and standards in line with voco brand expectations.
Uphold the highest standards of kitchen hygiene, food safety, and cleanliness.
Assist with stock rotation, portion control, and minimising food waste.
Contribute to a smooth service, ensuring dishes are ready on time.
Take part in training and development to build skills across both savoury and pastry sections.
Requirements
Previous kitchen experience desirable but not essential.
A genuine passion for food and hospitality.
Eagerness to develop pastry skills alongside other kitchen disciplines.
Strong teamwork, adaptability, and communication skills.
Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a busy environment.
Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Preferred (not mandatory)
Hands-on pastry or bakery experience.
Knowledge of desserts, baking, or pastry finishing techniques.
