Snr. Systems Development Engineer, ESC Managed Operations
AWS is set to introduce the inaugural European Sovereign Cloud (ESC), marking a significant development in utility computing (UC). To spearhead this initiative, we are actively seeking experienced systems development engineers with a strong background in automation and operations. As part of the AWS Managed Operations team, you will play a pivotal role in building and leading operations and development teams dedicated to delivering high-availability AWS services, including EC2, S3, Dynamo, Lambda, and Bedrock, exclusively for EU customers. Utility Computing (UC)
AWS Utility Computing (UC) provides product innovations — from foundational services such as Amazon’s Simple Storage Service (S3) and Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), to new product releases that continue to set AWS apart in the industry. As a member of the UC organization, you’ll support the development and management of Compute, Database, Storage, Internet of Things (IoT), Platform, and Productivity Apps services in AWS, including support for customers requiring specialized security solutions for their cloud services.
Eligibility requirements
* Fluency in written and spoken English
* Applicants must have the legal right to work in Ireland
* Amazon will provide relocation support for successful applicants relocating within the European Union
Key job responsibilities
Your responsibilities will focus on transforming how AWS operates its global infrastructure. You will design and implement systemic solutions that reduce operational complexity and cost across AWS regions. Your work will involve creating scalable automation systems that eliminate operational toil and standardize workflows.
A significant aspect of your role will involve collaboration with service teams, operational staff, and leadership to identify pain points and architect solutions that deliver lasting improvements. You will help shape the future of AWS operations by contributing to the next generation of cloud infrastructure management, ensuring solutions are scalable and maintainable. You may be required to participate in “on-call” rotations to resolve incidents out-of-hours.
