Technical Office ManagerBroadstone, DublinEngineering | Dublin BusAbout the RoleDublin Bus is seeking an experiencedSenior Engineer (Technical Office)to lead the technical governance of our vehicle fleet and play a critical role in shaping the future of public transport in Dublin.This is aleadership positionresponsible for fleet safety, reliability, compliance, technical standards, and continuous improvement, while leading a high-performing Technical Office team and overseeing engineering training across the organisation.You will work closely with internal stakeholders, trade unions, regulators, and global vehicle manufacturers to ensure our fleet is safe, efficient, compliant, and future-ready.Key ResponsibilitiesFleet Technical LeadershipAct as the technical authority for fleet maintenance, performance, and standardsLead investigation and resolution of complex technical issues in partnership with OEMs and suppliersOversee warranty strategies and claims across the fleetEnsure compliance with statutory regulations, EU Whole Vehicle Type Approval, and NTA requirementsSafety & ComplianceEnsure safe operation of the fleet through robust maintenance proceduresLead investigations into serious vehicle safety incidents and implement recommendationsMake technical recommendations on return-to-service following incidentsMaintain full compliance with RSA and internal Safety Management SystemsPeople & Team LeadershipLead, develop, and manage the Technical Office teamBuild a positive, inclusive, high-performance cultureEnsure the team remains current with emerging vehicle technologiesTraining & Capability DevelopmentManage the Technical Training CentreEnsure depot engineering staff are trained in vehicle service and maintenance proceduresSupport driver training on vehicle-related topicsWork closely with the Apprenticeship Programme to ensure future engineering capabilityContinuous Improvement & StandardsDrive Lean / Six Sigma continuous improvement initiativesDevelop, implement, and maintain SOPs, KPIs, and engineering standardsMaintain the ISO 9001 Quality Management System (QMS)Strategy & Stakeholder EngagementDevelop and maintain a 3-year Technical Office strategic planSupport major engineering projects and long-term organisational plansBuild strong relationships with manufacturers, suppliers, regulators, and CIÉ Group stakeholdersWhat We're Looking ForEssentialLevel 8 or 9 NFQ qualification in a relevant Engineering disciplineStrong knowledge of vehicle design and maintenanceProven experience leading and managing engineering teamsDemonstrated track record of continuous improvementExperience managing complex internal and external stakeholdersDesirableSix Sigma Green or Black Belt certificationExperience with modern vehicle technologies (e.g. low-emission or electric fleets)Background in a safety-critical or highly regulated environmentWhy Join Dublin Bus?Play a critical leadership role in Ireland's largest public transport providerInfluence the future of sustainable urban mobilityLead technical excellence in a complex, high-impact environmentCompetitive package and strong organisational support
