Heavy Goods Vehicle Maintenance Technician
The role of a Heavy Goods Vehicle (HGV) Maintenance Technician is to ensure the optimal performance and safety compliance of HGVs, construction plant, and associated equipment across operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintain heavy goods vehicles and construction plant in line with manufacturer specifications and industry standards through routine maintenance, servicing, and repairs.
Diagnose faults and carry out effective on-site and workshop repairs.
Conduct pre-use inspections and safety checks on all plant and vehicle equipment.
Maintain accurate service records and complete job sheets and defect reports.
Liaise with site managers and operators to schedule maintenance and minimize downtime.
Ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations.
Order and manage spare parts and consumables as required.
Respond promptly and efficiently to breakdowns, including occasional out-of-hours support.
Requirements:
Qualified Heavy Goods Vehicle Maintenance Technician or equivalent (e.g. National Craft Certificate).
Proven experience in maintaining and repairing HGVs and construction plant.
Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills.
Full clean driving licence (HGV licence desirable).
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Good communication and organizational skills.
Familiarity with health and safety procedures in a construction or civil engineering environment.
