About the Role:The Head of Customer Engineering is a senior role responsible for the safe, compliant, and efficient delivery of all customer-facing engineering activities across the LPG business on the island of Ireland.The role has full accountability for regulatory compliance, customer installations, service and maintenance operations, technical governance, and people leadership, while managing both operational (OPEX) and capital (CAPEX) budgets.This position ensures the company meets all statutory obligations while delivering a high-quality, safe, and commercially effective engineering service to customers.Key ResponsibilitiesRegulatory Compliance & SafetyAct as the company's senior authority for customer-side LPG engineering compliance in IrelandEnsure full compliance with all relevant legislation and standardsIrish Gas Safety legislationHSA/CRU requirementsIS 813, IS 820, IS 3216, EN standards and applicable EU directivesMaintain robust safety management systems, audits, and inspectionsLead regulatory audits and act as primary liaison with regulatory bodiesEnsure contractor and third-party compliance with company and legal standardsCustomer Engineering OperationsLead and oversee:LPG tank installations (bulk and cylinder where applicable)Customer site upgrades, removals, and modificationsPlanned and reactive service & maintenance activitiesEnsure installations and service works are delivered:SafelyOn timeTo agreed cost and quality standardsDevelop and improve operational processes to enhance efficiency and customer experienceTechnical Authority & GovernanceServe as technical escalation point for complex customer engineering issuesApprove engineering designs, specifications, and non-standard installationsOwn and maintain engineering policies, procedures, and technical standardsProvide expert technical input to Sales, Operations, and Commercial teamsLead root-cause investigations of technical incidents and near missesPeople Leadership & Capability DevelopmentLead and develop a multi-disciplinary engineering organisationSet clear objectives, performance standards, and development plansBuild a strong safety culture and accountability at all levelsManage contractor performance, capability, and complianceDrive succession planning and skills development across the functionFinancial & Budget ManagementFull ownership of Customer Engineering OPEX and CAPEX budgetsDevelop and manage annual budgets aligned with business strategyControl costs while maintaining safety, compliance, and service standardsDeliver productivity improvements and cost efficiencies where appropriateStakeholder ManagementWork closely with:Commercial and Sales teamsOperations and SupplyHSE and Quality functionsExternal regulators and inspectorsContractors and engineering partnersSupport customer escalations where engineering leadership is requiredIdeal Candidate Profile:The ideal candidate will be a senior, technically accomplished leader with extensive experience in the LPG, gas, utilities, or a similarly regulated engineering environment. They will have a proven track record of leading and developing field-based teams, operating as a trusted technical authority, and making sound, risk-informed decisions at a senior level. With strong commercial and financial acumen, the candidate will be confident managing both OPEX and CAPEX budgets while driving operational performance and value. Experience within the Irish LPG sector and managing large contractor networks is highly desirable.
