Social Care Worker
Purpose of Post
The Social Care Worker must possess a high degree of understanding and commitment to the residents of CCoI. The primary focus is the welfare and wellbeing of the residents. Professionalism, confidentiality and a commitment to the ethos of CCoI are essential.
The role requires working with people with an intellectual disability and ensuring an inclusive community life. The Social Care Worker, in cooperation with Shift Lead and Person In Charge, will be responsible for the overall growth and direction of the residents, within the CCoI ethos.
The successful applicant will be reliable, competent in household management and able to foster a homely and supportive environment. The role demands maturity, conflict resolution skills and the ability to empower people with diverse viewpoints. Flexibility, teamwork and a commitment to the vision of CCoI are required.
Key Responsibilities
1. Advocacy & Rights:
o Respect each person as an equal citizen.

o Develop self‑advocacy skills and promote opportunities for involvement.
o Enable each individual to pursue and maintain hobbies and interests.

o Facilitate participation and integration into the community through generic community facilities.
2. Person‑Centred Support for Living:
o Ensure a person‑centred approach to service delivery.
o Support people through individual and group service responses including:
+ Occupation and leisure activities
+ Communication
+ Behaviour support plans
+ Independent living skills
+ Social Integration and use of community facilities
+ Personal Care
+ Personal Development
o Act as Key Worker for specific individuals.
o Develop and implement person‑centred plans, ensuring needs are addressed.
o Coordinate and support medical appointments.
o Ensure a healthy, nutritious diet tailored to individual choice.
o Develop and implement training, leisure, social and personal activities.
o Ensure behaviour support plans are implemented.
o Support hygiene practices and personal appearance standards.
o Provide physical support (moving, handling, fire safety, cleaning, laundry, infection control, mobility) and personal care (dressing, bathing, toileting, eating, sleeping support, skin care, first aid).
o Facilitate recreational and leisure activities.
o Collaborate with workshops for smooth house‑to‑work transitions.
o Participate in social and recreational activities with Day Services Coordinator.
o Drive assigned transport and participate in transport duties.
o Promote participation in personal finance management and meal preparation.
o Support religious and pastoral needs.
o Administer medications and maintain records.
o Assist Shift Lead and Person in Charge with day‑to‑day household operations.
o Maintain the building and report any issues.
o Care for personal clothing and manage bed linen and launder.
3. Management and Leadership:
o Adhere to legislative, organisational policies and regulatory requirements.
o Maintain accurate records for all individuals.
o Accurate, timely reporting of all matters of concern.
o Coordinate the house team, ensuring adequate cover and scheduling.
o Induct and train staff and volunteers.
o Contribute actively to the team and provide support for vulnerable adults.
o Familiarise with CCoI policies, procedures and codes of practice.
o Efficiently utilise transport services.
o Monitor and manage student attendance and report concerns.
4. Money and Budgets:
o Account for petty cash and personal monies.
o Maintain petty cash float and balanced accounts.
o Approve prudent use of goods and services.
o Assist with budget preparation and monitoring.
o Balance house accounts, manage income and expenditure, petty cash and personal monies.
Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience
Applicants must:
* Hold a Level 7 (QQI) qualification – BA in Social Care Studies or equivalent.
* Be CORU registered or provide proof the application is in progress.
* Have 1 year’s experience working with vulnerable adults or adults with intellectual disabilities.
* Understand current national and sectoral policy developments in disability services.
* Follow, evaluate and contribute to plan development to meet ongoing needs.
* Possess effective interpersonal and communication skills.
* Proficient IT skills: Microsoft Office Excel, Word, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams.
* Hold a full driver’s licence and own car.

Details of the Role
Salary Scale: €36,379 – €52,445 per annum (based on a 40 h/week)
Location: Dublin South – Stillorgan, A94 F5D8
Duration: Permanent Full time/40 hrs.
