The Team Lead is responsible for managing the on-site laboratory services team, ensuring efficient delivery of core scientific activities to major pharmaceutical clients across Ireland.
Key Responsibilities
* Maintain Health and Safety guidelines, Good Laboratory Services (GLS), and local agreements in all scientific support activities.
* Proactively manage team workload and service levels to meet research group requirements.
* Perform preventative maintenance, cleaning, and documentation of various laboratory instruments including Pipettes, Multi-channel pipettes verification, Balances verification, PH meters glass washing, Bioreactor disassembling, cleaning, and reassembly, Biological Safety Cabinet Freezer deep cleans, and nova system maintenance.
* Train and mentor new Lab Services Associates in accordance with established protocols.
* Determine and organize training programs for Lab Services Associates to ensure they possess the necessary skills and knowledge.
* Ensure full cross-training is in place to develop the team, provide cover for all required service tasks, and maintain maximum efficiency.
* Coordinate and support the Lab Services team to ensure productivity, quality, documentation, work schedules, safety, and housekeeping.
* Reschedule resources as needed due to absences or increases in testing by the client.
* Communicate daily with the Site Services Manager to share information effectively and take immediate actions.
* Elevate issues to the Site Services Manager for review and resolution support.
* Lead the Lab Services team to achieve consistency in technical delivery, inter-team collaboration, and inter-departmental relationships.
* Provide technical expertise for equipment maintenance and out-of-specification preparations.
* Develop, coach, motivate, and maintain team member morale through effective team-building strategies and recognition systems.
* Report Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) aligned with Service Level Agreements (SLAs) for Governance meetings and huddle boards.
* Identify and implement operational efficiencies to reduce costs and enhance customer satisfaction.
Requirements
* Background: Degree in Chemistry or Biology-related subject.
* Experience: Previous experience in a customer-facing role, preferably within the pharmaceutical sector.
* IT Literacy: Proficiency in Excel and SAP is preferred.
* Tech Support Skills: Capable of troubleshooting technical issues and handling high-priority tasks.
* Personality: Problem solver, analytical mindset, and people-first attitude.
* Valid Driving License.
