High Salary Carpenter Technician
This role offers a unique opportunity to work on the maintenance and repair of naval vessels as a Hull Artificer (Carpenter). The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the operational effectiveness of the fleet by managing, maintaining, and crewing the ship. Additionally, they will be trained to take on the responsibilities of a Hull Artificer at sea, contributing to the safety and maintenance of the fleet.
The key responsibilities of this position include:
- Managing and maintaining the ship's hull, fittings, and associated systems
- Repairing and maintaining the structural integrity of the vessel
- Participating in emergency response situations, including firefighting and damage control duties
In order to succeed in this role, candidates must meet certain requirements, including:
- Being an Irish citizen or legally entitled to work in Ireland
- Meeting medical, physical, and security clearance standards
- Being between 18 and 39 years of age on the date of application
- Holding HETAC Level 7 Bachelor of Science in Craft Technology (Wood) with business, National Craft Certificate in Carpentry and Joinery, National Craft Certificate in Cabinet Making/Wood Manufacturing and Finishing, and National Craft Certificate in Shipwright qualifications, or equivalent
The recruitment process includes a fitness test, competency-based interview, medical exam, and Garda vetting, all conducted at the Naval Base in Cork.
